Leicester Office Development Approaches Completion

A new office development in Leicester city centre, located next to two newly constructed hotels and public realm areas, is set for early completion in July 2019. “No.1 Great Central Square is such a key development for Leicester; the site exceeds occupiers demands in terms of office accommodation in a modern thriving city centre. Construction is ahead of schedule and the completion date has moved forward. This is great news given the overwhelmingly positive response and strong interest from potential occupiers received to date. Interested parties are reacting to the clear advantages this location offers, not to mention the fantastic facilities and working environment offered,” said Reg Pollock from property consultants APB Leicester LLP. “Great Central Square is a significant regeneration scheme so it’s no surprise that people are keen to be a part of it. Its completion will create a gateway between the city and the waterside, tenants will benefit from the nearby Highcross shopping centre and fantastic transport links to the rail station, motorway network, and nearby airports,” Reg Pollock added. As well as offering up to 33,000 sq ft of Grade A offices, the Great Central Square mixed-use development will also see the listed Great Central Railway Station brought back to its former glory and converted into retail/leisure space. “It’s great to see speculative development within Leicester City Centre reflecting the confidence our clients Charles Street Buildings have in the market. No.1 Great Central raises the bar in terms of specification and design of offices delivered in Leicester to date and, when combined with the high-profile city centre location, really does offer office occupiers looking for space within the Leicester market something quite special,” commented James Keeton of joint agents JLL.

Power Investment Boosts London Electricity Developments

UK Power Network has invested £600 million to boost London’s electricity network. The company’s major works have enabled the redevelopment of the Greenwich Peninsula, Nine Elms, Kidbrooke and White City, plus flagship projects such as Crossrail, the Thames Tideway tunnel and HS2. This annual investment is part of the company’s commitment to invest £1.6 billion in London from 2015 to 2023. Since the beginning of its investment, UK Power Networks has developed a number of new electricity sub stations. “We work with developers, land owners and local authorities to ensure they have the power they need to progress their plans, which ultimately delivers economic growth for all,” said Director of Connections Mark Adolphus. “In the first six months of 2018 we commissioned five main substations to boost the capacity of the London network – that’s the most investment we’ve seen since the 1960s. That includes three main electricity substations within three kilometres of each other; Black Wall Way and Greenwich are catering for infrastructure developments. The third is Crossrail Limmo which is fully funded by our customer. This new infrastructure is the result of a lot of hard work from employees across our business and it represents a huge growth in our network capacity,” Mark added. The total power capacity being installed in London is around 540 MW- which is equivalent to powering 270,000 new homes. New substations providing extra power capacity and built since 2017 include Greenwich Peninsula, Camden and Whitechapel. Other projects under construction to power further development in areas of London and facilitate more infrastructure projects, include new substations at Nine Elms, White City, Willesden and Silvertown. UK Power Networks adds tens of thousands of new connections to its networks every year, runs 30,000 kilometres of high voltage cables under the streets of London, and is developing a smart grid to support changing energy needs.

NEW GEOSLAM SCANNER COMBINES DETAILED DATA POINTS WITH HI-RES IMAGERY

World leading geospatial mapping technology specialist, GeoSLAM, has launched its latest product that is set to shake up the property sector by offering property professionals the ability to capture floorplans and hi-res photography simultaneously. The ZEB PANO, a handheld SLAM (simultaneous, localization and mapping) scanner and panoramic camera, has been developed for the property sector. SLAM technology is widely known for its use in the automotive industry for self-driving cars, but the technology has applications far beyond that. Capable of capturing 43,000 data points per second and high-resolution panoramic imagery at the same time, the ZEB PANO stores the exact location of each panoramic image enabling quicker, more accurate, and less intrusive property surveys. Property agents can use this information to create a floorplan and property descriptions in considerably less time. Complementing the existing ZEB range of scanners, the scanner’s ‘walk-and-scan’ method of data collection allows users to quickly and easily survey a property, producing accurate data and high-resolution photography. Following the announcement of its partnership with GeoSLAM, Netherlands-based ZIEN24, a market leader in home visualisations for both realtors and consumers, is already putting the ZEB PANO to the test, helping to quickly and accurately generate a building’s floor plans. Commenting on the launch of the ZEB PANO, GeoSLAM CEO, Shelley Copsey, added: “We’ve seen how transformative our geospatial technology is across multiple industries, and I’m delighted to be launching the ZEB PANO to the property sector. By embracing digitalized workflows and new technology, we’re already seeing significant competitive advantage being achieved by those adopting this new way of working. “With time pressures and constraints a regular challenge for stakeholders in the property industry, the ZEB PANO will help to streamline the process of generating building images giving operators the accurate property dimensions with only one visit to the property required.” On the partnership, managing director of Zien24, Boy van Houten, added: “We’re always looking for the next way to make the process of selling a house easier and quicker. Working with GeoSLAM, and using the ZEB REVO RT, has already transformed the way we run our business. They understand the importance of a strong digital workflow, and we can’t wait for our customers to start seeing the benefit.” For more information on the mapping and monitoring solutions from GeoSLAM, visit www.geoslam.com.

Roofing Company in Detroit

There are many roofing companies in Detroit, but how do you know if you are getting a quality roofing company for a good price? There are a few key elements to understand and remember before hiring a roofing company in Detroit. This article will discuss the key elements and provide you with a few roofing companies in Detroit. No matter your company’s needs, you want a team of experts that will go the extra mile and provide you with quality roofing services. You will want to look for a roofing company able to handle any task, big or small, with the right equipment and at the right price.   One way to size up a roofing company in Detroit quickly and easily is to see how they answer the phone on your first encounter. Does someone answer the phone or do you get voicemail? If so, do they respond to you within a reasonable time? Do they try to pressure you into replacing the whole roof without knowing what you need? Do they give you reluctant or vague answers to your questions?   There are many different types of roofing services available on the market today. Whether you require roof repair, roof maintenance or roof installation, you want to find the best solution for your needs. You also want to be sure that your roofing company in Detroit offer customizable solutions. Let’s look at a few types of roofing types available in today’s market.   Metal Roofing Metal roofs provide beauty, energy savings and protection for your company’s building that can last a lifetime. Metal roofs are available in a wide variety of designs that will complement any style of building. Depending on your needs, you may want to look into hiring a roofing company in Detroit that specializes in metal roofing.   Slate Roofing Slate is one of the most visually pleasing and durable of all roofing materials. Installed properly, slate roofs require relatively little maintenance and will last for more than 100 years depending on the type of slate employed, roof configuration and the geographical location of the property. Depending on your needs, you may want to look into hiring a roofing company in Detroit that specializes in slate roofing.   Green Roofing Green roofing alleviates water runoff and sewer overflows. The vegetation and soil act as a sponge, absorbing and filtering water that would normally be lost to gutters. A green roof’s plants remove air particulates, produce oxygen and provide shade. Depending on your needs, you may want to look into hiring a roofing company in Detroit that specializes in green roofing.   Cornices The purpose of a cornice is primarily decorative; however, cornices serve a waterproofing function by shielding the top of the building’s façade from rain runoff. Depending on your needs, you may want to look into hiring a roofing company in Detroit that specializes in cornices.   Cupolas, Domes and Turrets A turret is a small tower that extends above a structure, characteristically at a corner location. A dome is an architectural element that resembles the hollow upper half of a sphere. Architecturally, cupolas are somewhat small, most often dome-like, and they provide a vantage point or admit air and light, often topped with a weathervane. These types of architectural structures are decorative but still endure all weather conditions and are therefore susceptible to deterioration. Make sure you pick a roofing company in Detroit that has replaced or refurbished cupolas, domes and turrets on a consistent basis.   Any roofing project, big or small, should start with an analysis of the problem. The analysis is a scientific process of elimination of the possibilities, starting with the most obvious. You will want to find a company that will look at the walls, the plumbing and the mechanical equipment, as well as the roofing. You will also want to make sure your roofing company in Detroit is fully licensed and insured.
