New ‘SETL’ contemporary living canal side development situated in Birmingham’s iconic jewellery quarter will feature 101 apartments together with 2,350 sq. ft. of ground floor commercial space. GMI Construction Group PLC an established and successful UK contractor and construction services company providing specialist design and build capabilities spanning multiple sectors has today announced that it has been appointed by leading property developer HBD to construct a new residential-led scheme in Birmingham’s iconic Jewellery Quarter. The development, titled ‘Setl’ is HBD’s first city centre development in Birmingham and has been designed by leading architects BPN, based in the jewellery quarter. 101 apartments will be accompanied by an array of residential amenities and 2,350 sq. ft. of ground floor commercial space.  The scheme will feature a courtyard, workspace, a lounge and a gym, along with a rooftop garden on the upper floors of the six-storey building. GMI to attend major Meet the Buyer event in Birmingham.

GMI Construction Group PLC has today announced that it will attending a major Meet the Buyer event in Birmingham later this month. The event being held at Villa Park on February 15 will be the first in-person Meet the Buyer evet for nearly two years after the programme was put on hold by the pandemic.  It offers an opportunity for GMI to connect with a host of subcontractors, suppliers and public sector authorities from across the Midlands. GMI will also have the opportunity to discuss the many contracts and projects it is working on currently in the region which include construction of a 95 unit stand out residential development for HBD in Birmingham’s Iconic Jewellery Quarter; a 155,000 sq ft net zero in carbon operation logistics/industrial unit for St Modwen Logistics in Longbridge and the construction of a new build residential block containing 259 apartments over 11 storeys for SJS in Derby as part of regeneration of the Becketwell area. Giant new distribution centre built by GMI for ASOS now live.

State of the art 437,000 sq ft facility becomes the fourth fulfilment centre opened to date by the online fashion giant. GMI Construction Group PLC has heralded the official opening of a giant new state-of-the-art 437,000 sq ft fulfilment centre built for leading online retailer ASOS at a site at Fradley Park in Lichfield. The £90 million development which took 39 weeks to build features over 407,000 sq ft of warehouse space together with 30,000 sq ft of offices.  More than 700 people have already been recruited at the facility, with that number rising to 2,000 over the next three years in order to serve customers in the UK and 150 other countries across the world. ASOS said it expects to ship over 30 million units in the site’s first year, and up to 4.5 million per week once the facility is fully operational and automation is complete. It said it expects the facility to help it meet its goal of reaching £7 billion in annual revenue within the next three to four years. Speaking about the opening ASOS Chief Operating Officer UK Mat Dunn said: “We are thrilled to be celebrating the opening of our brand-new warehouse in Lichfield, which will support our ambitious international growth plans and bring a significant number of jobs to the area,” “Our choice of Lichfield reflects the skills and talent it has to offer and we’re looking forward to becoming part of the local community in the years ahead.” Also commenting GMI managing Director Andy Bruce said: “Its enormously gratifying to see this incredible building officially come to life and become operational.  It is the culmination of nearly two years of construction, fit out and enabling works. GMI awarded contract to build new £30M build to rent residential scheme within new Becketwell development in Derby

The scheme, which is being developed by St James Securities, will feature 259 apartments over 11 storeys in a mix of one and two bed units. GMI Construction, a leading main contractor to a growing portfolio of public and private clients throughout the UK, has today announced that it has been awarded a contract worth £30M by St James Securities to construct a 259-unit build to rent (BTR) apartment block within the major Becketwell mixed-use regeneration project in Derby city centre. The development, which will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom units over 11 storeys, has been sold to Grainger plc, the UK’s largest listed residential landlord. Construction began during May, with the building expected to be completed by March 2023. In addition to working on the construction of the apartment block, GMI will also undertake works on the new public square that will serve as the focal point for the regeneration of Becketwell. Commenting on the project, GMI Group Managing Director Andy Bruce said: “We are thrilled that the St James Securities team has once again put its trust in GMI to deliver this high-profile apartment block within the Becketwell development.  We have worked together several times before at sites across the UK and GMI’s relationship with SJS serves as a long-term partnership stretching back several years. We are looking forward to working with the full project team and seeing this development come out of the ground and at the heart of the regeneration of Becketwell. On receiving this award GMI are now the only company to have held the title in both Yorkshire and the North West, after being crowned Construction Business of the Year at the Insider North West Property Industry Awards in May. Some 850 representatives from businesses that are shaping the built environment in Yorkshire attended the event, showcasing the best of the property industry and most notable achievements. In receiving this award GMI were highlighted for their ability across a wide range of commercial sectors operating from their offices in Leeds. The company was noted for its standout performance in the delivery of a broad range of often highly complicated projects consistently delivered on time and on budget. The company’s premises will be at 75 Dale Street in the Piccadilly Basin area and it has already created 15 permanent positions. With an expected £100 million turnover for next year, the group is working onto its present successful projects in Manchester. The current contractors include the Dakota Deluxe hotel for Evans Property Group and Burlington House, a residential development for Belgravia Living Group. “We are pleased to announce our expansion with a physical presence in the North West. We operate cautiously and as a result have remained profitable for the 31 years that we have been established.
