Breedon Group

Lagan Is Now Breedon

Following the acquisition of Lagan Group by Breedon Group earlier this year, Lagan’s brick, tile and bagged cement products have been rebranded as Breedon. The company manufactures a comprehensive range of concrete roof tiles, clay facing bricks and bagged cement which it supplies to builders’ merchants across the UK and Ireland. This newly-branded range has enhanced the portfolio of specialist building products available through Breedon’s distributor network which also includes a variety of decorative aggregates, concrete products and its famous Welsh Slate.   James Cousins, regional director responsible for Breedon’s specialist building products, said: “It’s a very exciting time to be part of Breedon. We’ve spent the last few months getting to know our new colleagues, as well as the products and plants within the group, and the rebranding from Lagan to Breedon demonstrates our commitment to the market to move forward as a single brand, leveraging the strength of the enlarged group to offer our customers high-quality products and the highest level of customer service. “It’s early days but one thing’s for sure: we’ll be continuing to grow and invest in our business in the coming years, with a continuing focus on our customers throughout the UK and Ireland.”

Welsh Slate Appoints New Sales Manager

Welsh Slate, part of the Breedon Group and the UK’s leading manufacturer of natural slate, has grown its sales team with the appointment of a specification sales manager for the South Wales and South-West region. John Steadman brings more than 25 years of natural slate sales experience to the position after periods in regional and national sales with both UK and European manufacturers, some of which also involved manufactured building products/tiles. John considers he has reached the pinnacle in natural slate specification with Welsh Slate which is headquartered at its main Penrhyn Quarry near Bangor in North Wales. “I have been in natural slate sales for a long time and it’s great to have joined Welsh Slate who produce the best natural slate in the world,” he said. “I don’t think many people could argue that it’s not top of the range material. So I feel very positive, especially joining the company under the new Breedon Group ownership.” An avid Arsenal supporter and a six-times grandfather, John also joins the Welsh Slate sales team following the appointment earlier this year of former operations director Mark Hodgkinson as managing director.

Hope Cement Rewards Loyal Customers Through New App

Hope Cement is leading the way for the construction industry by boosting the benefits that it offers customers and merchants. Following the unveiling of its new high-performing bagged product range [in their own packaging], Hope Cement has developed a novel incentive scheme that rewards builders merchants and professional builders. Accessed through the Hope Cement smartphone App, the loyalty scheme is the first of its kind, using a new approach to drive traffic into merchants’ stores and help to grow their business. The scheme will reward Hope Cement customers, whilst giving them a chance to win a Ford Transit Custom van. Available now, the Hope Cement App is designed for use on both Android and iPhone platforms and can be downloaded from the Google Play store or the Apple App store, free of charge. Customers collect points every time they purchase a Hope Cement product. They take a photo of the receipt, enter the amount and product purchased and upload it through the App. Points will accrue based on product purchases, and customers can review how many points they’ve built up using the rewards  page. The points can be used to claim rewards including vouchers for high street and online retailers, and in partnership with TrustFord, customers who use the App will be entered into a prize-draw to win a Ford Transit Custom van, to be drawn on April 18th. Hope Cement’s Commercial Finance Director, Tim Billingham said: “The smartphone has become an essential part of modern life and it made sense to harness its familiarity and convenience to benefit our customers. “The App will not only benefit those purchasing our products, but will help increase footfall in builders merchants’ branches. It will also include a nationwide store locator to make it as easy as possible for customers to begin to reap the many benefits that Hope Cement offers.”
