Eco-friendly housing scheme wins coveted award

Leading UK placemaker, United Living New Homes, has been awarded a Premier Guarantee Quality Recognition Award for its innovative eco-friendly housing development at Shaldon Road, Bristol. The award recognises outstanding developments that have consistently delivered quality workmanship and displayed exceptional site management. Throughout the year, only 100 developments from across the UK are expected to receive this prestigious award – about 4% of the total number of sites inspected by Premier Guarantee. The Shaldon Road development captured the judge’s attention for the high quality of the new homes and the excellent standard of site management, craftsmanship, health & safety performance, site tidiness and general cooperation with the inspectors.   As a winner of the Quality Recognition Award, United Living New Homes will be considered for this year’s National Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards, scheduled to take place in the summer. On behalf of leading social housing provider, Brighter Places – and supported by Bristol City Council, Bristol Community Land Trust and Homes England – the £10 million eco-friendly scheme has seen land south of Morris Road, transformed into a carefully designed sustainable community. Built to ‘PassiveHaus’ principles, the energy-efficient properties will provide a high level of tenant comfort, while using very little energy for heating and cooling and minimising each home’s carbon footprint. The development will include two, three, and four bedrooms houses with a mixed tenancy of shared ownership and affordable rent. Solar PV panels will also feature at the development, further reducing costs and a green transport plan which includes electric car charging points, a car share scheme and improved pedestrian and cycle access. Communal green space around the homes is also being created with a dedicated and protected green corridor to enhance biodiversity by providing a safe space for wildlife. The ultra-green project is expected to be completed in early 2022. Jason Ivens, Project Manager, United Living New Homes, said: “We are delighted and honoured to receive this Quality Recognition Award for our Shaldon Road development. It is testament to the dedication, efforts and care of the entire team working on the project. “These eco-friendly properties are a reflection of our company’s wider commitment to deliver high quality, sustainable new homes that suit the needs of the local communities in which we build”. Ian Granger, Account Manager, Premier Guarantee, said: “What a great team effort from Jason and his colleagues, achieving a fantastic product on a challenging site using new and innovative solutions. They are worthy Quality Recognition Award winners”.

First CISRS Centre Opens in Russia

SIMIAN International has partnered with Prostaff LLC Following a successful accreditation audit last week, CISRS has approved the first Overseas Scaffolding Training Scheme (OSTS) centre in Russia. SIMIAN International working in collaboration with Prostaff LLC, part of the Polati Group, a Russian scaffolding supplier and contracting company, have opened a training facility in the Moscow suburb of Mytishchi. Polati Training Centre has been running their own scaffolding training programme for some time, and originally opened their centre in 2017. They also deliver other associated courses such as Rope Access, confined space and rescue training. They were, however, very keen to gain third party approval with CISRS as they see it as the leading international training standard for tube and fitting scaffolding. Initially the Centre will offer CISRS Level 1 and 2 Training for Scaffolders in Tube and fitting, Basic Scaffold Inspection and Supervisory programmes. They will look to build upon their CISRS portfolio going forward, possibly incorporating Soyuz a ring-type system which they use and supply, plus other scaffolding systems. Dave Mosley, CISRS Managing Director, said: “The centre is fitted out to the highest specifications, with brand new materials, tools and PPE. There are several classrooms but one is particularly impressive as it houses both an independent and a hanging scaffold actually within the classroom.” SIMIAN International Managing Director Ian Fyall added: “We are delighted to be partnering Prostaff in this venture and moving both SIMIAN and CISRS’ footprint into another part in the world. We are looking forward to training and assessing their instructors and giving advice and guidance going forward. “It’s been 12 months in the making due to Covid but we eventually got there” The centre also makes use of a miniature modelling system called BabyScaff, which is an exact replica of the ring-type scaffold system and is used to explain assembly, loadings and stability of scaffolds. Training Centre CEO Evgenii Guseinov said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with SIMIAN International and very proud to have opened the first CISRS centre in Russia. We have been delivering our own successful training programme for several years, however, gaining third party approval from CISRS which is recognised as the international standard for Tube and fitting scaffolding training, is another step forward and will set us apart from our competitors.” Polati are a very large Scaffolding Supplier and Contracting company with around 3,000+ scaffolders in Russia and surrounding countries. In 2017 they worked on the Lakhta Tower project in St Petersburg, at 448m it was the largest building in Europe which involved around 250 Scaffolders using over 700 tonnes of Layher Allround Scaffolding in extreme weather conditions. They have several depots across Russia and are looking to open additional CISRS OSTS approved facilities in the near future, including one in Kazakhstan.

What is a Data Room in Private Equity?

A data room is a secure space used mainly for housing confidential data. It can store and secure sensitive documents as well as handle financial transactions. Investment bankers, private equity professionals, and corporate development teams find an M&A data room essential in carrying out their projects. Virtual data rooms have gradually taken over physical data rooms in financial transactions. Here is everything you need to know about virtual data rooms in private equity. Data Safety. Virtual data rooms in private equity firms are generally used to make treaties such as M&A to secure and store sensitive business information or documents with their customers and shareholders online. Information stored in virtual data rooms is considered critical. Thus, parties need to maintain data integrity. Companies will also use virtual data rooms to store copyrighted documents or trade secrets that are sensitive. Mergers and Acquisitions. Virtual data rooms have become the new trend in current-day financial transactions. It has made it possible for the due diligence procedure of the M&A treaty that gives data access to impending customers through a secure internet connection. Virtual data rooms provide these customers or companies with effective security measures to securely access and share their documents. If the treaty does not close, authorization to the virtual room is withdrawn. Premeditated partnership. Virtual data rooms ensure that data or information shared by companies intending to merge does not leak if the companies do not come to an amicable deal. Companies can therefore be assured that all their precious data is protected. This enables the companies to partner with other firms with absolute certainty of data integrity. This is a condition brought forward by the use of virtual data rooms. Board Interactions. On certain occasions, board members of the companies do not necessarily reside from a single region or do not occasionally travel to the company’s headquarters. The internet brings in the need for a system that allows all board members to access critical information from wherever they are. Virtual data rooms play a major role in ensuring that this is possible on a single podium without risk of data leakage to unauthorized persons or members. Audits. Firms are sometimes faced with circumstances where external parties evaluate the firm’s data. At times companies are required to give up information to their compliance auditors. As such, you must incorporate virtual data rooms that enable safe sharing of the information without allowing it to get compromised. Virtual data rooms also offer a way to keep track of the information with this professional in a more secure environment. Virtual data rooms come with several features, including live chatting, drag and drop file upload, artificial intelligence, and advanced security features, among many more. Virtual data rooms are an excellent solution for private equity firms in getting the best investment objective. Ensure that you are more informed of the differences between virtual data rooms and their features before selecting a VDR service for your firm.
