Lucideon Has Released the White Paper to be Applied to the Construction Sector

An international materials and development and commercialization organization has announced that they are releasing a white paper to be applied to the construction sector. Lucideon has released the white paper which is titled ‘The Use of Digital Image Correlation in Masonry Research’. The white paper has been co-written for Lucideon by Dr Geoff Edgell who is the director and principal consultant for construction at the company. Dr Geoff Edgell worked on the white paper with Cliff Fudge, the technical director at H+H UK Limited. Lucideon work on developing and testing materials in order to provide assurance to clients in a range of different sectors. The white paper that has been published looks into how Digital Image Correlation can be used in recent projects with concrete masonry. The paper was first presented at the 13th Canadian Masonry Symposium in Nova Scotia in the 6th of June this year. The digital imaging process has been introduced as a specialised way to monitor the performance and durability of materials and products when exposed to external forces such as forces, weights, strains and stresses. Geoff Edgell of Lucideon has said that this analysis that is offered by Digital Image Correlation will help to use products to their best capacity as well as seeing how tolerant materials are to external stresses. The Correlation system allows real time measurements of the strains to be taken and an observation of the individual components of a material and their durability. These developments that are being made through the Digital Image Correlation can lead to new innovations in the masonry sector as well as other materials that are related. Before this Correlation research discussed in the white paper, the impact of stresses and strains could not be measures. Lucideon have invested in the Digital Image Correlation technology and uses it in their structural testing laboratories as well as on site around the UK and the USA.

The company therefore has more than 40 years of experience working in order to produce high quality architectural work from flagship commercial and retail spaces to major sports stadia. Graeme is a registered architect and has more than 12 years of post part 3 experience. In his new role as Senior Associate for Hamilton he will be in charge of the management throughout and the delivery of a range of projects that will be carried out by the firm in a number of different sectors. Graeme will be involved in projects from their inception right the way through to their completion. Graeme Graduated with his BSc in Architecture from Queen’s University Belfast. Graeme Ogle also completed his Bachelor of Architecture and his Certificate in Professional Practice and Practical Experience from Queen’s University. In previous roles, Graeme has worked at a number of different leading architecture practices and has therefore gained a range of experience on projects in a number of sectors. The new Senior Associate has worked as a part of projects in the Education, Housing, Commercial and Healthcare sectors throughout his career so far. This experience will stand Graeme in good stead for his new position at Hamilton Architects. Barratt Homes Scotland Have Begun Their Summer Site Safety Road

Barratt Homes Scotland have begun their Summer Site Safety Road. This event is for the property developer to get involved in the communities that they are working in and to educate children in local schools about the dangers about being on a construction site. The well known house building company carries out this Roadshow each year in the areas around their sites in order to educate local school children about safety. It is thought that there are around 30 different live sites located across Scotland alone therefore there is a lot of opportunity for accidents to happen and for dangers to arise involving curious children who aren’t fully aware of how dangerous a construction site can be. It is really positive to see a property development company, especially one that operates on the scale of Barratt Homes, to be taking responsibility for the education of children in the areas around construction sites. In order to carry out the initiative, the Barratt Homes Scotland site safety experts are visiting schools in teams and carrying out 40 minute interactive talks with the school children as well as providing the schools with information packs, to be used or given to parents as appropriate in order to make sure that as many children as possible are kept safe while developments and construction work takes place nearby. The Roadshow will involve the children watching videos and trying on Personal Protection Equipment as well as taking part in question and answer sessions in order to get the safety message across. The construction company will be starting their presentations in schools on the West side of Scotland. Barratt have said that they will specifically be visiting schools in Wishaw, Robroyston and Bonnybridge. Local Music Being Supported by a Timber and Building Supplies Company

Local music is being supported by a Timber and Building Supplies company in order to try and discover the next big artist. Howarth Timber and Building Supplies has said that they are offering their support for the Local Music Live scheme. The aim is to find Britain’s next big artist by giving new artists an opportunity to perform live on air. Local Music Live is an initiative that combines local community stations and larger commercial ones in order to play unsigned artists. One of the larger stations that has been named as involved in the scheme is Rock FM Lancashire and the Lincs FM group. Other stations known to be involved in the Local Music initiative is Fix Radio, which operates in London. The plan behind the scheme is to give local artists the opportunity to have their music played live on air and encourage the local talent. The ideal result of the Local Music Live campaign is the discovery of the next Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran, however the main aim is to get commercial, DAB and community radio to work together as part of a larger initiative in order to showcase local musical talent. Howarth Timber and Building Supplies are showing their support for the initiative and will also be involved in the process of deciding who gets played on the radio. The plan for the Local Music Live campaign is for the different branches of Howarth Timber will be choosing the best act form their area. The Local Music Live and Howarth Timber’s favourite acts will then be given a larger platform on which to showcase their music. The overall winning artist or band from the initiative will be awarded with the opportunity to record their music at Redwall Studios which is in Greater Manchester as well as being given the chance to create a music video for one of their tracks.

The new contract has been awarded by CertainTeed, who is a subsidiary of one of the largest and oldest building product companies in the world, Saint-Gobain. LXi REIT Plc Has Announced That They Have Managed to Acquire a Priory Care Home

LXi REIT plc, the property investment company has announced that they have recently managed to acquire a Priory Care Home. The property that the company as acquired is located in Leeds and it is thought that the cost of the investment was in the region of £8.4 million. It is thought that the acquisition figure is a reflection of the net initial yield for the Leeds Care Home which has been measured at 6.3%. The property in question has been let to Priory Elderly Care Limited. The property has also been guaranteed by the parent company Priory Investments Holdings Limited. Priory is thought to be one of the leading providers of care services in the mental health and elderly care sectors. Priory Group is also owned by a larger company, and is ultimately a part of Acadia Healthcare, which is a NASDAQ-listed business. Acadia works to offer more than 17,000 beds over 570 different facilities. The lease of the Leeds care home currently as an unexpired term of just below 23 years. This means that the lease term expires in March 2040. This lease is offered on the building without a break and it is thought that the agreement will include annual upward only rent reviews will also be linked to the Retail Price Index. The next rent review for the building is in March 2018. The care home that is a part of this transaction was built in 2010 for the purpose that it is currently being used for. The Priory Care Home in Leeds offers 75 en-suite bedrooms that are spread across three storeys and is considered in a good location on the east side of Leeds City Centre. The Priory Care home is situated two miles out of the city centre in an area that is mainly residential and is a part of the Osmondthorpe. The transaction on the Priory Care Home is expected to complete at some point in the next week.

This includes being contracted to work as part of the Crossrail project that is taking place in London and is being carried out by Network Rail. As part of this Crossrail development, British Steel has been asked to deliver a total of 57km of track for the work. As part of the success that has been experienced by the company, British Steel has employed 500 new people since June 2016, with 50 new people starting work at the business this month. This expansion is also good news for the company as it meant that they have a larger workforce, and can take on a larger workload and continue to increase their profits.
