Housing Market Calming Down, According to eMoov CEO

Russell Quirk the Chief Executive Officer of property agency eMoov has released a few things to say regarding the current state of the housing market, which is apparently seeing homes in the country rise in value more slowly than they were before, suggesting that some form of stability seems to have returned to the market. Quirk explains that one must accept a slowing down of rate levels in any case, due to the stagnation expected around the seasonal Christmas period. Things are therefore to be expected to have slowed themselves down somewhat in any case due to the simple fact that less people are likely to want to invest time and effort in the housing and property market around the Christmas season when they want to spend time with their families and friends. The slowing down overall thus seems to reflect this, but Quirk adds that things will certainly pick up again soon now that the tinsel season is over and business is opening up again as usual. Therefore it seems evident that the springtime season will show a rise once again because more people will be wanting to activate themselves again to get the year going with their plans to invest and change homes. Russell Quirk also adds that in any case the survey itself that has found this out (Rightmove) bases its data and results on the asking price of those whom it interviewed, and this is therefore not the same as the sold price itself. What it does however unarguably show is the expectations of people who believe that the market is at a lower rate than it actually is. Confidence is not what is used to be but the Rightmove survey did indicate a 3% rise in the amount of traffic that agencies are experiencing, showing that there is still much be said about the construction industry and housing development projects in the future months to come.

Resurgence of Homes Being Built Compared to Previous Months

An online agency dealing in real estate in the property and development sector of the country known as HouseSimple has discovered that there has been a considerable increase in the amount of homes being built and supplied in various towns and cities across the country in the last month of January this year as compared to December 2016. The research figures that they have compiled indicate that there have been almost twice as many homes being built and supplied in the last month as compared to the previous one of December, totaling a 93.3 percentage increase. Of course, it is quite natural during the December month that the rate of property construction and supplying tends to decrease, what with the impact of adverse weather conditions as well as the traditional holiday period of that year. Nevertheless, only a month later, the fact that the amount of homes across the United Kingdom has increased to the point that it surpassed twice as much in over a quarter (27.1 per cent) of the country’s urban areas demonstrates a significant rise in growth and a sense of enthusiasm in the building and construction industry to tackle the problems that it will undoubtedly face this year with bravery and optimism. The area of Lichfield in the West Midlands was the area in the country that increased the most in property supply in January compared to the month before, with a staggering 268.4 per cent increase by the end of the last month. Undoubtedly, this is a sign that the West Midlands is certainly living up to be one of the most lucrative areas for property development and construction. Indeed, it was also listed in a survey by eMoov recently (another estate agency accessible by internet means, like HouseSimple) as the most desirable place for young couples wishing to start a family in a more affordable housing area.

The Staggering Gap in Pay Between Skilled Workers and Unskilled Estate Agents

A recent report and release of statistics by online conglomerate eMoov has indicated a staggering discrepancy between the amounts of pay earned by top estate agencies in the United Kingdom compared to other workers, including those in the building and construction trades. The study calculated that some high-profile estate agencies could be paying their unskilled agents up to £815 an hour: this is, the survey explains, a clear result of the incredible soaring of the prices of homes across the United Kingdom, particularly in and around the suburbs of London such as the borough of Barking and Dagenham. Whilst it is clear that the rising value of a property will in turn increase the rise in commission by successful estate agencies, the discrepancy between what they could profit from this compared to skilled laborers in the country is a prime example of the scrupulousness of these property agencies. EMoov calculated that a skilled practitioner in manual labor, such as the professions carried out by electricians and plumbers would on average make between £17 and £18 an hour. In comparison to this, an estate agent could be earning more than £800 an hour in this country due to the shocking rise in house prices recently. Surely this is to be seen by the building and construction industries as an indication of the lack of fairness and the sheer lack of scruples that these estate agencies have. At a time when concerns are constantly being raised about the worrying lack of skilled laborers and manual workers in this country, it is clear that something ought to be done to ameliorate this shortage. But when the wage gap between what a hard-working electrician might earn and what an estate agent could earn based on the current housing market is so huge, it is clear that something must be done to tackle this unfairness in society where salesmen are being paid more than 19 times more than workers whose aim it is to keep British homes warm and in decent working order.
