Plans for Cambridge Science Park Have Been Approved

South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City planning authorities have approved Mace’s plans for a 200,000 sq ft commercial development on the site of one of the UK’s leading science parks. A Section 106 agreement for 1 – 21 Cambridge Science Park was completed on the 17th of August 2018, enabling the development to proceed. With the aim to help address the lack of high-quality commercial space, the proposed development will support the City’s long-term sustainable economic growth and continue to attract leading national and global companies. “Cambridge Science Park was the UK’s first Science Park. I’m pleased that the Council has recognised the importance of our scheme to strengthen Cambridge’s premier position as a leader in the technology and bio-science sectors,” said David Grover, Mace’s Chief Operating Officer for Development. The development arm of Mace acquired a long leasehold from Trinity College and have created a high quality scheme which will be a fantastic new asset for both the Science Park and the City. The development has been designed by architects, Scott Brownrigg. “The development will play a major role in building on the ‘Cambridge Phenomenon’, bringing together a world-class university, research institutes, and creative science and technology businesses and write a new chapter in the extraordinary success story of the Science Park. Now that planning is secured for the project the development will move into the delivery stage on site, and letting of the space through Savills as our appointed agents,” added David Grover. The site is at the gateway to the Science Park, and benefits from excellent new infrastructure investments including the new Cambridge North train station, the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway running alongside the site, and improvements to the A14.

Mace and Ronson Capital Partners Complete on Marylebone Site

Mace, the international consultancy and construction company has been working on site with Ronson Capital in order to deliver the practical completion of their Chiltern Place project. This 15-storey scheme has been worked on by the team at Mace since 2015 and is located in Marylebone, West London. The companies have been celebrating the practical completion of the Chiltern Place project which will deliver to the market 55 luxury flats and a townhouse. The development also offers retail space on the ground floor of the site. The project has been designed by PLP Architects and it is thought that the design would visually echo the form of the 1960s office block that previously occupied the space. The development is located close to the high street in Marylebone and will help to fill the gap in the market for high-quality residential stock. Working with Mace, the consultancy and construction company, is the investment company Ronson Capital Partners. This investment firm works to deliver prestigious development projects for Central London. Lisa Ronson from the firm has said that Chiltern Place has created 56 brilliant new homes in one of London’s most desirable and central locations. Vital Energi Awarded a Building & Design Contract With Mace

Vital Energi has been awarded a Build & Design contract with Mace worth £6.7 million. This contract will deliver a low-carbon energy solution for a development on 145 City Road. The energy solution is being created for the new Atlas building, which is a 152m high building that has 40 storeys and forms a part of the £1 billion City Road Basin Development. Once completed, the Atlas building is expected to be the tallest residential building found in London’s Tech City. Vital Energi has been contracted to install the main energy centre which is situated in the basement of the building. The energy centre will be comprised of a 158 kWe CHP engine and also a 2.8MW modular gas boilers and 1.W of water cooled chillers. The sustainable and renewable energy company will also deliver the risers and laterals as well as the heating and the cooling Hydraulic Interface Units that will be a part of more than 300 dwellings that make up the residential building.  Because of the height of the Atlas Building, Vital Energi will also have to install a plant room on the 19th floor. It is thought that this plant room will hydraulically separate the heating and chilled water systems which will then make sure that there is enough water pressure delivered to all of the apartments throughout the entire building. As part of their work on the project, Vital Energi have committed to making sure that local communities benefit from the development. The energy solutions company have pledged to create employment and business opportunities in the local area. The team that is working on the Atlas Building have been establishing connections within the Borough of Hackney by offering initiative such as career trade fairs. Vital Energi are using these links that they have created with the borough to see that the development creates the maximum opportunities to benefit the local economy.

Mace Confirmed for Second Phase of East Village Project

It has just been confirmed that Mace will take its place as main contractor for the 2nd phase of East Village, a development sitting by East London’s Olympic Park – a very enviable location positioned in the old Athletes’ Village area used for London 2012. Already playing host to some 6,000 residents across 2,818 residential properties, the project looks to expand upon the residential capacity of the area in line with the original 2005 Stratford City Masterplan. Due for completion over the course of 2018, the project itself includes a 30 storey and 26 storey tower, with Qatari Diar and Delancey positioned as joint developers in the structure of the project. Upon completion, the residential assets are to be managed by Get Living London to ensure that the assets available are utilised to their maximum potential. Nodding to the appointment of Mace to the phase, a spokesperson commented for Qatari Diar Delancey, highlighting the hard, quality work displayed by Mace over the course of London 2012’s Paralympic and Olympic games as well as the LLDC’s transformation at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. “We are looking forward to seeing how the team brings this expertise and local knowledge to these new homes in East Village,” commented the spokesperson. Building from a strong foundation of residential success already present in the area, the project, and Mace’s work most specifically, is expected to build further upon the “residential legacy” already achieved in the local area by Qatari Diar Delancey and, as such, Mace maintains a positive outlook on the opportunity to deliver on the project. Having already been working in the area from London 2012 at its very inception, the project also highlights Mace’s invested interest in the area, with Mace’s Chief Executive, Mark Reynolds commenting that the project, “Forms an important party of a legacy that is very close to our hearts.”
