5 Best Flooring Options for New Homes

New homeowners are always looking for ways to improve the value of their home. One convenient way is by improving the foundation of your interior design. Indeed, installing the best flooring option determines the aesthetic appeal of your home. With this in mind, we are taking a look the five best flooring options for new homes based on their durability, style, and affordability – even with GRP Gratings the job will work out much better. Tiles Tiles are available in ceramic and porcelain. They feature a hard solid surface in endless colors and designs. This outer finish does not attract dust, dirt, or other allergens. In turn, tiles work in any room of the house. Opt for the stronger, harder, and more water-resistant porcelain tiles if you need a flooring solution for your outdoor space. Or, use ceramic tiles for your bathroom and kitchen. While wall tiles will look uneven when set on the floor, floor tiles can be installed seamlessly on most walls. When choosing grout colours for tiles, consider the overall aesthetic you want to achieve in thespace. If you want the tiles to stand out and be the focal point, choose one that closely matchesthe color of the tiles for a seamless look and allows the tiles to take center stage. Alternatively, you can pick one that contrasts with the tiles to make them pop. For example, if you have whitetiles, a dark gray or black grout creates a striking contrast and adds unique, visual interest to thespace. Moreover, neutral ones like beige, gray, or light brown are versatile choices that cancomplement a wide range of tile colors and designs. Carpet Flooring Most tiles are affordable, though their hard surfaces can be quite cold. If you live in an area with a cold climate, carpets may be a better option. They will retain heat much better, feel cozy under the feet, while also helping with noise reduction. Since carpets collect dirt, dust, and allergens, they require vacuum cleaning every so often. Here are the most common carpet styles: – Laminate Flooring Laminate flooring has become a hugely popular choice due to its affordability, durability, and the fact that it comes in various styles. Undoubtedly, customers can find whatever laminate flooring style they want within their budgets. Other attributes of laminate flooring include: – Despite its benefits, laminate flooring does not like water. It swells and disintegrates when it comes into contact with a lot of water, and can end up looking like wet cardboard. For this reason, it is best to keep your laminate flooring out of the bathroom or kitchen. And remember to wipe up any spills immediately. Solid Hardwood Flooring Hardwood flooring is warm and inviting. It blends well with any decorating style and it always looks classy. The most common hardwood floors use genuine and engineered hardwood flooring. Genuine hardwood flooring is the real deal, and is made from solid hardwood. It is pricey and requires some time and money for maintenance. Hence, engineered hardwood floors give genuine hardwood flooring a run for its money. This cheaper yet durable alternative comprises a thin layer of wood on top of a composite. It looks elegant when installed and is readily available in most store hardware stores. On the flip side, all hardwood floors are poor at handling wetness. They are not ideal for the bathroom, kitchen, outdoors, or any space exposed to significant humidity and dampness. Choose the wood species that aligns with your aesthetic preferences and fits the traffic level ofthe space where it will be installed. Different species offer distinct characteristics in terms ofhardness, color, grain pattern, and durability.Assess the grade of the hardwood flooring, opting for clear, select, or common grades based onthe level of natural features you prefer. Consider the Janka hardness rating. Oak and maple aresuitable for high-traffic areas, while softer woods like pine may be more prone to denting.Decide between prefinished and unfinished hardwood flooring, with prefinished boards offeringconvenience in installation. Take into account the width and thickness of the planks, choosingbased on the desired style and subfloor conditions. Select an installation method—nail-down,staple-down, or glue-down—that suits the subfloor type, location, and personal preference. Screed Flooring Finally, screed floors are a modern, trendy flooring option that require no maintenance. Indeed, this highly durable option uses concrete, cement, asphalt, and sometimes wood to create an even surface in terms of thickness and feel. The name “screed” is an English word meaning spreading evenly over something else. Screed flooring is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation. Additionally, you can carpet or lay a laminate floor on screed floors with minimal preparation. Plus, homeowners can seal or stain their screed floors to add color and blend it with the rest of your décor. Your flooring option for a new home should be durable, affordable, and trendy. More so, it should be a functional complement to your lifestyle. And opting for the right tiles, carpets, laminate floors, solid hardwood, and screed flooring can give you a head start in increasing the value of your new home.

Five Trends in Football Stadium Construction

Football attracts hundreds of thousands of fans to stadiums every year. Playing football without fans in an empty stadium is an incomplete experience. For many fans, watching their favorite players on their TV screens is not satisfactory enough. Football fans across the globe have been filling up stadia every other week either to watch their national teams play or to support their favorite football club. Football fans generate a lot of revenue from buying tickets in order to watch their favorite sports teams. They also generate money from playing free bets and paid bets on their favorite teams. Football continues to grow because of patronage from fans. Fans are important stakeholders to football teams, but as their numbers continue to swell, stadiums need to provide the latest construction that is conducive and safe for use. They need to ensure that the stadium can offer all of the latest amenities for all kinds of football fans. Important Football Stadium Design and Construction Trends Apart from amazing architectural designs and breathtaking landscapes, many stadiums worldwide are now using the latest technology and proper safety arrangements to improve the fan experience. The FIFA world cup coming up in Qatar in November will unveil some of the world’s latest stadium constructions. These stadiums cost billions to construct. However, the construction costs are valid, as long as every fan gains easy access, enjoys their stadium experience, and safely gets back to their destinations. The latest stadium construction trends are interesting to see. Some already constructed stadiums are also beginning to renovate and implement these construction trends to make them safer and better for the fans. Here are five trends in football stadium construction making loud statements and sounding a loud gong of commitment to football fans’ safety: – Safe standing areas Standing in football stadiums was common in England. Following the Taylor report on the unfortunate Hillsborough disaster, highlighting the inferior quality of the terraces and barriers, stadiums in England were mandated to allocate seating arrangements to every spectator. In the recently concluded 2021/2022 season, some Premier League clubs trialed safe standing after getting approval from the FA. They utilized rail seating arrangements with terracing and crush barriers in place. Stadium designers are turning to safe standing because it has become quite common for fans to stand on their seats during games, and that practice raises a lot of safety concerns. Their trials were largely successful, and it appears that safe standing will be one of the construction features to look forward to across stadiums in England. The current safe standing arrangements are not entirely designed for fans to stand throughout matches. The standing arrangements can also be converted to seats and used according to the spectator’s preference. – Advanced Lighting Design and Arrangement Lighting is essential in creating unique fan experiences across stadiums. Many stadiums have started to utilize LED lighting which lights up the stadiums once flicked on. These lights can be designed to flicker along to the beats from the stadium’s sound system. These LED lights are great for fan experiences and contribute immensely to reducing energy consumption in stadiums. – Increased Connectivity In the past, stadiums were secluded from the rest of the world. Now, stadiums ensure that every fan stays connected by providing internet connectivity via Wi-Fi and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). A football game is no longer complete without tweets and real-time statistics. Being able to stay connected right from the stadium helps fans enjoy their favorite teams while staying connected with the rest of the world. Stadiums also use connectivity for marketing purposes. Fans can scan barcodes and browse the links displayed on advertisement boards. – Air Conditioning Harsh weather conditions sometimes affect fan experiences in football stadiums. With the increasing use of air conditioners in stadiums, fans can have a smooth experience without weather interference. Air conditioning in stadiums seemed like a far impossibility. Now, they are guaranteed improvements to fan comfort and enhanced spectator experiences. – Free Flowing Traffic Arrangements Stadiums are incorporating a lot of traffic infrastructure and arrangements in their considerations. When fans can easily access the games and get back home without much hassle, it encourages them to come back to see the next game. Stadiums are designing and implementing car parks that allow easy entry and exit. They also include alternative traffic arrangements to connect fans from different sports.  Conclusion Other interesting trends that are shaping stadium construction include the hospitality arrangements. Stadiums are also built with adequate fan attractions such as hotels and other interesting entertainment options, including restaurants, parks, and stores where fans can pick up souvenirs. Stadium management companies stand to gain more when their stadiums are fitted with the latest construction trends. Many stadium management companies and sponsors will invest money into their stadiums to generate more revenue in the near future.

ABB state-of-the-art manufacturing hub supports Asia Pacific's economic growth

ABB Manufacturing Hub Supports Asia Pacific’s Economic Growth

ABB new $6 million manufacturing hub for electrical distribution solutions in BacNinh province, 25km from Hanoi, Vietnam in Asia, is set to bolster the country’s rapid industrial growth. One of Asia’s fastest growing energy markets, the government expects power consumption to grow 10-12 percent annually until 2030. At the same time, Industrial production in Vietnam continues to grow year on year, rising by 9.4 percent in April 2022. This, coupled with a 7 percent growth in urbanization means that smart and efficient power distribution solutions, such as medium voltage switchgear panels and the modular systems manufactured by ABB, will be crucial to ensure the next phase of Vietnam’s economic growth also achieves its sustainability goals. At 15,700 sqm, ABB’s new factory is double the footprint of the 10-year-old facility it is replacing, with significantly enhanced environmental credentials. The building blocks are in place for future LEED certification, including the use of roofing material with optimal thermal conductivity and rainwater collection, the highest standards of air quality management and the scope to install solar panels. In addition, the ABB Ability™ Building Management System connects assets across the facility to allow remote monitoring and ensure energy efficient operations. The manufacturing hub will produce 2,000 panels of ABB’s UniGear Medium Voltage Switchgear and 700 units of plug-and-play modular systems for power distribution per year, with production lines designed and set up on the successful lean manufacturing methods used in ABB’s European facilities. Commenting on the investment, Matteo Caiti Division Hub Manager Asia for ABB’s Distribution Solutions, said: “Our new high-tech, low-impact facility will bolster Vietnam’s economic growth and lay the foundations for a successful future for ABB in the region. It is purpose designed to provide our employees with the best working conditions and ensure that we reduce our impact on the environment. More importantly, it will produce solutions designed to help our customers to reduce their emissions and energy wastage. As Asia Pacific’s industrial growth continues to accelerate, this hub will position Vietnam as a hub for sustainable power distribution in the region.” Despite restricted travel, customers across the world will now be able to keep track on the manufacture and assembly of their systems via state-of-the-art remote monitoring technology. This involves testing engineers wearing a pair of Augmented Reality Microsoft HoloLens glasses and relaying what they see to the customer, allowing them to be virtually present in the factory and see their products being manufactured and tested without being on site. With a current valuation of more than US$850 million and a predicted annual growth rate of nearly 15 percent, Vietnam is amongst the top ten emerging data centre markets in the world. In 2021, data centre capacity in Southeast Asia grew faster than in Europe. ABB systems not only facilitate the reliable supply of power needed to keep these running but also distribute it evenly throughout the facility. The facility will also serve several export markets including Japan and Australia. What Exactly is Workers’ Compensation … and How Can You Claim It?

Unless you’ve actively sought workers’ compensation in the past, you might be in the dark about what it involves, how it benefits employees, and what steps to take to claim it successfully. To clear up all of these questions and more, read on for a rundown on the ins and outs of workers’ compensation! The basics Simply put, workers’ compensation is a type of compulsory insurance which employers take out so that if team members are injured, fall ill or are rendered disabled in the line of duty, a financial payout is available. It’s essentially an arrangement which means that businesses don’t get sued by their employees when disaster strikes on-site. However, the process of filing a claim is complicated, and legal professionals are still involved on both sides. The benefits A workplace injury or accident which leaves you unable to work as usual, or diminishes your quality of life indefinitely, has been seen as something worthy of compensation for many decades. You can receive cash and other types of support to cover things like lost income, as well as medical bills, as part of a compensation claim. Hire an experience lawyer to help with your workers’ compensation claim While not strictly necessary, it is very useful to have an experienced attorney on your side when filing a claim for workers’ compensation. As you’d expect, you’ll have the best chance of success if working with a specialist in the field who’s also based locally to you. For example, getting a New York workers’ compensation lawyer to help issue a worker’s compensation claim if you are based in the Big Apple yourself is better than looking further afield. Laws vary from state to state, and you want to be confident that your legal representative knows the ins and outs of the rules and regulations where you live to make the claim process as smooth as possible. The caveats If your employer offers a workers’ compensation package, then you should know that by taking advantage of it you are also relinquishing your ability to sue your employer for negligence further down the line. It’s basically a calculated risk, in the sense that your use of such a scheme guarantees that a payout is available in the event of an accident or issue, while limiting your legal options if you did want to take things further. For most purposes, the available insurance payout will be adequate, and of course the legal fees are limited by statute and rolled into the package where necessary, so you don’t have to be too concerned about the cost of hiring an attorney in this context. Another sticking point is that you generally need to be a full time employee to receive coverage from any workers’ compensation policy that an employer offers; if you’re a contractor or a freelancer, you are out of luck. There are some exceptions to this, but they are in the minority, so most self-employed individuals will have to take other routes to receive compensation. The considerations So what should you do if you want to claim workers’ compensation? Well, aside from getting in touch with a lawyer as discussed above, it’s also important to document the details of the issues you are faced with as thoroughly as possible. As well as taking pictures of any injuries, and getting information on witnesses where relevant, you need to report everything to your employer as soon as possible. The more you have in writing, along with additional evidence, the better the chance you stand of making a successful claim. And now you know more about what’s involved, there’s no reason to hold back!

Useful Tips for Decluttering Your Home Before Moving

There is a lot of preparation and work to be done before and during moving home. However, it can be the perfect time to declutter, as you don’t want to waste time and money by bringing items with you that you no longer use. Decluttering is even more important if you are downsizing, for example moving from a large home to a smaller one such as a Condo in Naples, Florida.   Here are some ways to get started. Take one room at a time Taking one room at a time can make the task of decluttering less daunting. Trying to do the whole place in one go will be more time-consuming and is usually less efficient. Moreover once a room is “done” you’ll get a sense of accomplishment and be more motivated to move on to the next room. Get a professional to uninstall anything If you’ve had anything installed in your home, which you intend to take with you, getting a professional to do this is the best approach. It prevents damage to the item and also the structure of your old home. The last thing you want is to cause damage to a place you have already sold. Test anything you haven’t used in a while You can narrow down what you take with you by testing items you haven’t used in a while. For example, you could check if electrical items still work, or try on clothes to see if they still fit. Then ask yourself if you might use any of these again in the future. Try to be realistic. It’s tempting to hold on to things you think you might use again, but the longer they have been out of use, the more unlikely it is that you will ever need them. Shred paperwork you no longer need Most of us have a stack of out-of-date paperwork. We worry about identity theft, so put these aside to safely dispose of later, but never get around to it. Before moving, you might need to set aside several hours to shred all this paperwork, depending on how much you have. Most documents are now available online, so you could find you need very few paper documents. Sell or donate your unwanted items Some items will simply need throwing in the bin. However, there will be plenty of items that are in good and usable condition, but you have no more use for them. It can be worth selling some of these to help fund your move, but many more will only bring in a few dollars each. You probably won’t want to spend a lot of time selling these. Instead, you could donate them to a charity shop, where the money raised goes to a good cause, and the buyers pick up a bargain on something they will use. The important thing to remember when decluttering is to be a little more ruthless if you find yourself holding on to things you are unlikely to use. Nobody wants to make more work for themselves by packing and unpacking items they’re never going to use.

Should You Build Your Own Greenhouse?

There are many individuals who decide to build their own greenhouse – but this can often be quite a challenging endeavour, especially for those who don’t have much experience in this type of project. From the materials, to leveraging; there are typically several things that you’ll need to consider before putting one up in your garden. For those who want an easier experience, buying a kit will often be the best solution. It’s simple and often cost-effective too, which only helps to make it an even better choice. Even so, you may still be unsure of what to do. Let’s take a closer look at some of the important things to consider when choosing between a DIY project and purchasing a pre-made greenhouse kit.  Want to buy? Make sure you buy from a reputable manufacturer First things first, if you do plan on purchasing a greenhouse, you should make sure that you’re getting a product that’s good quality and meets your requirements. If you decide to purchase a greenhouse from Hall, you’re likely to find that there are a variety of good kits to choose from, with plenty of variety too. This is perfect for those who already have an idea of what style and size they’re in need of – but even if you’re unsure, you could always take a look at their range and decide which one you like the most. What are the pros and cons of building your own? There are typically a few things that DIY enthusiasts will find beneficial about building their own greenhouse – but also a few factors that may be less than ideal. The costs For example, you could save quite a bit of money when using recycled materials, but this doesn’t mean that the project will be more cost-effective overall. You may find that modifying an existing structure into a leveraged greenhouse may work out to be a little more expensive despite half of the work already being done, and getting building permits could come at a price. This could end up balancing out the cost a little more. Options for customisation One positive aspect of customisation is that you can choose what materials you use. While it may not always be easy to find everything you need in one trip, it could be a bonus to be able to pick and choose all the individual aspects as you go along. With more options to customise your greenhouse, you can also custom-fit it to your garden’s unique needs.  Time and effort Of course, you will need to be considerate of all the work that will go into installing a greenhouse. From sourcing the materials, to preparing your garden; there’s often a lot that you’ll need to do yourself, even when hiring somebody to undertake the build. What are the pros and cons of buying a kit? In general, buying a good quality greenhouse kit will solve a lot of the issues that many people have when going the do-it-yourself route. You may want to keep the following points in mind: Taking the easy option If you do decide to build your own greenhouse, it may be far better to opt for a kit, as you’ll generally find that the building process will be so much simpler and will take far less time to complete. This generally comes at the cost of being less customisable, which means that it may not be ideal for those who have very specific and unusual requirements. However, with a variety of kits in many shapes, sizes and styles, it usually won’t be too hard to find something that works for you. Quality guaranteed While you won’t necessarily have as many options when it comes to materials, it is worth noting that you won’t have to worry about them either. From a good manufacturer, you can generally enjoy quality throughout, with everything being cut to the right measurements. You may even find some parts pre-assembled and instructions to ensure that the building process goes as smoothly as possible. Save money and avoid risks All in all, considering all the different costs of a DIY greenhouse, you’ll usually be able to save money with a kit. While those on a tight budget could cut corners building their own, it isn’t usually going to be worth the risk. Alongside all this, you should also get a warranty when you purchase a good greenhouse. Typically, a manufactured greenhouse will come with at least some form of protection if something should go wrong (often relating to factory defects or similar issues), which at least gives you the opportunity to get a refund or a new one if anything goes awry. When constructing your own, you won’t get this luxury and will have to pay out for any damages yourself. Which one is best? With all the facts laid out, we can see that there are both positive and negative aspects to both. The best thing you can do is consider which one will be the most beneficial to you. If you’re looking to minimise risks, reduce the amount of work needed and potentially save some cash in the process, buying a kit might be the right way to go. Unless you really want to get involved with a project or need to tailor your greenhouse to your garden, it’ll generally be best to go for a kit. While DIY greenhouses do have their benefits, most will find that it’s simply not worth it in the long run. Building Design and Construction Magazine | The Home of Construction & Property News

Is there a difference between a designer and an architect? Architectural designers and architects play an important role in designing buildings. Architects are professionals who have passed a thorough exam and have registered with a board to validate that they possess the required skills. They design and oversee the construction of projects. On the other hand, an architectural designer comes up with plans that are focused on the appearance of a building. Their titles aren’t protected. Therefore, they don’t have strict qualifications. You can work as an architectural designer before you apply for an architect license. Architects and architectural designers usually work together on projects. Here are a few simple rules to follow when writing an architectural designer resume. If you can’t do the work, you should consider hiring professional resume writers. 1.      Have a clear header Your resume should have a clear header that includes your details such as name, phone number, and email. Including a header in your resume is important because it helps to hire managers to contact you in case you match what they are looking for. You’ll find some templates with these fields to ensure that everything is organized. 2.      Objective After filling the header section, you need to include the resume objective section where you’ll describe the type of job that you are looking for and why you are the best person for the job. This is one of the sections that should distinguish you from other candidates. You should consider including details of your experience in the industry, the skills that you possess, and the outcomes of your work. 3.      Focus on your experience Your resume should have the experience section. This is where you describe your experience in designing structures. Start with the recent job or title that you had, your employer’s name, and the number of months or years that you worked. Seeking help from resume writing services will help you focus on your creativity in construction. 4.      List your skills You need to make a list of the skills that are relevant to the job that you are applying for. If you are experienced in various types of design programs, write them down by name for your employer to know whether you’ll need training or not if they choose to hire you. Write down your experience with designing various types of structures and how you adapt in the field. 5.      Education Your resume needs to have a section where you discuss your education qualifications. The education section can be placed at the beginning or end of your document depending on how it’s linked to your career path. For instance, if you studied architecture in college, you should place this section after your objective. On the other hand, if you want your employer to focus on work experience, place it at the end. Working with professional cv writing service will greatly increase your chances of getting hired. 6.      Include extra qualifications If other qualifications will help you stand out and get hired, you should consider creating additional sections and highlighting them.
