Stormking unveils new brand reinforcing being at the forefront of the GRP supply sector

Stormking, the UK-based manufacturer of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) prefabricated products, has unveiled its new branding, which aims to reflect the company’s ongoing dedication to being at the forefront of the housing construction supply sector. Established nearly 40 years ago, Stormking has led the way in the development of offsite prefabricated component products. Since its inception, its product designs and manufacturing processes have progressed, becoming more advanced and innovative. This has led the company to review its branding to bring it more in line with its current philosophy, as Andrew Almond, Marketing Manager at Stormking, explains: “Stormking’s branding has always been synonymous with quality and service. From the commencement of the company in 1985, its brand design and style has reflected its market leading status within the GRP market and the house building construction sector. Although the brand has developed over time, after nearly a decade of the same brand, it was time for an update. “We felt a new approach was needed to reflect the advancements the company has made over the past 40 years, both in terms of product development and manufacturing practices. We wanted the new branding to be an evolution rather than a revolution, so although we have moved to a cleaner, more contemporary visual identity, we have retained the red, white, and blue colours to ensure continuity, as we transition between the outgoing brand to the new updated version. “We also wanted to emphasise the many benefits prefabricated products and offsite manufacturing can offer the construction industry. More companies are looking to prefabricated products to revolutionise the way they build new homes. The ease of installation of these products, which are delivered to site either complete or in a limited number of pieces, is saving construction companies both time and money – especially when compared to traditional building materials and methods. Andrew concludes: “Our new branding reflects Stormking’s commitment to being at the forefront of the GRP supply sector, with the continued development of innovative products and manufacturing processes that support the future of the house building sector.” Further information about Stormking and its range of products can be found at www.stormking.co.uk or by calling 01827 311 100.

OFF-SITE MANUFACTURED GRP COMPONENTS HELPING UK CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY BUILD BETTER

The need for new homes continues to rise, with an average 200,000 new houses being built each year. This increase has resulted in added pressure being placed on construction companies, and their supply chains, to keep up with demand. One solution which is aiding the industry and enabling houses to be built more quickly is the off-site manufacture of prefabricated building component products. Andrew Almond, Marketing Manager at Stormking, a UK-based manufacturer of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) prefabricated products for the construction industry, explains how building off-site can benefit the new home construction supply chain and keep projects on track: “GRP building products are helping to revolutionise the way new homes are built. These products range from door canopies to chimney stacks and are manufactured off-site before being delivered to, and installed, onsite. They can be ‘dry-fit’ into place, which requires no specialist knowledge, training, or tools. “This ease of installation is saving construction companies both time and money – especially when compared to using traditional building materials and methods.  However, this is only one advantage that is drawing the sector towards off-site manufactured products. “Safety, choice and – in our case – UK-based manufacturing, are all benefits cited by construction companies when opting for off-site manufactured components. “Firstly, safety. GRP products are substantially lighter than their conventional counterparts. This means they are easier to manoeuvre around site and at height, helping to reduce the potential for handling hazards. There is also no need for additional scaffolding or machinery, which again helps to mitigate against any associated dangers. “Secondly, choice. GRP component products can be produced in a wide variety of styles, colours, and textures. This allows for more creativity with regards to design and enables specifiers to easily source products required for specific planning requirements. Overall, GRP off-site manufactured products offer greater scope in terms of look and feel than traditional tile or brick. “Lastly, but definitely not least, is the ability to source these products from UK-based manufacturers. Here at Stormking we have over 500,000sq ft of manufacturing capacity spread over five sites in the Midlands. This, together with our 300 plus strong work force and fleet of over 20 delivery vehicles, means we can support the industry nationwide, from the Isle of Wight to Northern Scotland. Being based in the UK is also helping us to reduce our carbon footprint. “We understand that environmental credentials are now an important consideration for many companies when choosing a supplier. Here at Stormking, we believe that GRP products offer more environmental and sustainable benefits than traditional building materials. Transportation is reduced as components are delivered in one piece and from one supplier; less resources are required to install the products which reduces the need for more deliveries to site; and the products have a long lifespan, of over 35 years at present, so need replacing less frequently. In addition to this, and to further reduce our carbon footprint, we are working with fleet operators on testing electrical vehicles for our service teams. “So from cost efficiencies and safety, to ease of installation and sustainable credentials, it is clear to see why the construction industry is choosing to use more GPR prefabricated products to keep projects moving – and we believe this trend will continue to grow as more companies realise the many benefits off-site manufactured GRP products can offer.” Further information about Stormking and its GRP product offering can be found at www.stormking.co.uk or email your enquiry to sales@stormking.co.uk or call 01827 311 100 to discuss your next project.

Stormking provides increased productivity to construction industry thanks to off-site prefabrication

Prefabricated Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) products, such as bay window roofs, door canopies and dormers, are enabling the construction industry to work far more efficiently, with off-site and modular construction processes helping to increase productivity.  However, increased speed is not the only benefit these products are providing, as Andrew Almond, Marketing Manager at Stormking, a specialist manufacturer of offsite prefabricated GRP component products, explains: “The prefabricated components product market has grown exponentially over the past few years, as more construction companies realise the many benefits they can offer. The rapidity of installation is only one such advantage these innovative products can deliver. Installation with ease “The ease with which these products can be installed is key to facilitating increased efficiency. This is achieved by manufacturing products offsite and delivering them in either their entirety or in a limited number of component pieces. They can then be ‘dry fit’ into place, which requires no specialist knowledge, training or tools by the installer. “The ‘one lift’ method with which these products can be installed negates the need for specialist heavy lifting equipment or independent scaffolding, which are often required to install like-for-like ‘traditionally’ manufactured structures. Combined, these benefits are saving construction companies both time and money. “When specifying prefabricated, modular constructed products the developer is not only protecting its bottom line, but also helping to significantly reduce its on-site health and safety issues. Safety first “Potential hazards and installer injuries can be reduced and, in some cases, avoided, due to prefabricated components being extremely lightweight compared to their traditionally made counterparts, making them easier to handle and quicker to install, especially at height. Quality as standard “The benefits of prefabricated products to the construction industry are obvious. However, to take full advantage of these benefits, choosing the right products from a trusted supplier is crucial. As with any conventionally constructed component, you should not have to comprise on quality when it comes to prefabricated products.” Why Stormking? Stormking has been hand producing prefabricated products in the UK for over 35 years, engineering market leading product knowledge along the way.  This has allowed for the development of the ideal high strength to weight ratio requirements for its range of building components, all of which have been specifically designed to be light weight yet extremely strong, stable and durable. Andrew continues: “Stormking takes pride in the knowledge of both its products and those industries it serves. This expertise has enabled us to lead in the field of GRP product development and standards, resulting in our extensive range of components being awarded the BAA (British Board of Agrèment) certification.  This impartial third-party verification gives our customers the peace of mind that they are receiving only the highest quality products, supplied by a company they can trust.” The perfect prefabrication partner “Choosing the right supplier, who can deliver on time and meet your schedule, is just as important as selecting the best components for your project. Stormking is not just a manufacturer, we are a partner, providing our customers with guidance throughout the entire purchasing process and beyond. From choosing the most suitable components, to installation advice, aftercare and repair services, Stormking provides a holistic approach for its customers.” Andrew concludes: “The construction industry is moving at pace and construction companies require products that enable them to keep up – and it is only prefabricated product suppliers, such as Stormking, that can meet the volume and quality the industry currently demands.” Further information about Stormking and its range of products can be found at www.stormking.co.uk , emailing sales@stormking.co.uk or by calling 01827 311 100.
