Mood match LEDs with Knightsbridge’s Flex strips

LED Flex strip lighting from Knightsbridge – one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of wiring accessories and lighting – is ideal for creating ambient lighting in kitchens, bedrooms and other spaces deserving colourful and energy efficient accents. Flex’s low profile – from 1.5mm to 2mm – and 8mm width makes it ideal for hard to access, space-constrained locations, while its 3Mself-adhesive backing tape provides a robust and durable fixing. Waste is kept to a minimum because installers can cut the LED Flex to fit at 50mm intervals and use the excess elsewhere, re-connecting it to other strips of product where necessary. Both single and four colour (red, green, blue and white) versions are available, supported by dedicated drivers, controllers and profiles that offer a quick solution to most indoor installations. The colour-changing RGBW LED Flex are available with smart technology so they can be controlled through Knightsbridge’s proprietary SmartKnight app. The company has also introduced ‘COB’ single colour seamless strip lighting. COB stands for Chip on Board, meaning the LED diodes are built directly into the printed circuit board. The seamless strip lighting is ideal for illuminating indoor spaces since it offers a larger lighting area than traditional alternatives, resulting in no dark spots and perfect colour consistency and uniformity. The COB strip lighting is supplied with 150mm of cable and is dimmable with the appropriate control. Rated IP20 for indoor use, the 12V single colour range offers colour temperatures from 3000K to 6500K and light outputs from 510lm per metre upwards in white only. Its 24V equivalent is also for indoor use, but available in various colour temperatures of white as well as red, blue and green. The colour-changing models are rated at IP20 for indoor use and IP67 options are also available. The Flex collection encompasses 52 versions in 12V and 24V, in lengths from one metre up to 50 metres, depending on voltage and colour; all with a three-year warranty. A full range of accessories – from aluminium mounting profiles through to controllers, connectors and drivers – is also available. Knightsbridge goes full tilt with configurable LED downlights

Knightsbridge has taken the next step in its lighting evolution with the inclusion of SpektroLED® Tilt to the configurable, Knightsbridge SpektroLED® series. SpektroLED® offers so many combinations of wattage, colour temperature and bezel choice that the product provides a genuine 40-in-1 fire-rated downlighting solution, now in both fixed and tilt versions. With the introduction of SpektroLED®, Knightsbridge – one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of wiring accessories and lighting – has removed the limitations of traditional downlights, offering versatility, performance and style in one unique package, and allowing for customisation and personalisation of lighting design without resorting to multiple lamp types. The new SpektroLED® Tilt variant increases the options again. Like the fixed model, SpektroLED® Tilt offers a choice of two wattages – 5W and 8W – five colour temperatures (CCTs) and five bezel finishes, from white and matt black to chrome, polished chrome and brass; resulting in 40 different style and performance permutations. The wattages and CCTs are switch-selected on the rear of the downlight body. At 5W, SpektroLED® delivers up to 465 lumens and up to 795 lumens at 8W. The four CCTs available are 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 6000K, representing warm white through to daylight. The choice of five bezels then allows further customisation to complement or contrast with any interior décor or colourway. Installation, as with all Knightsbridge products, is straightforward.  Both units feature simple first fix power connectors with loop in/loop out terminals that can be terminated and hidden away while other works are finished. The downlight can then be plugged in to complete the installation after decoration and lend themselves easily for maintenance and access to the innovative CCT and power properties. The downlights are fire rated for solid timber, web joist and I-joist installation for up to 90 minutes depending on materials and, in addition, are IC rated for retention of efficiency of mineral wool insulation in the ceiling void. SpektroLED® Fixed has an IP65 rating from below, making it suitable for use in bathrooms and wet rooms, while  SpektroLED® Tilt is rated at IP20. Once installed, SpektroLED® will give 50,000 hours of rated LED life and can be used with most leading and trailing-edge dimmers though compatibility should be verified beforehand. A five-year warranty guarantees peace of mind. Ever Seen A Hidden House in London?

The well-respected firm of architects LTS Architects has yet again proved itself to be a beacon in architectural innovation with its new set of property designs that push the boundaries of what can be achieved even wider in the world of design that ever before. Their new ambitious creation is based in the bustling Knightsbridge area of the city of London and is known as the “hidden house” concept. The premise of these particular homes is that the exterior of the structure might not be able to be seen by ordinary passers-by and pedestrians, but the inside of the home is spacious and luxuriously set up. So what might at first resemble a tiny door in the wall can actually have an inside that is out of this world  in terms of innovation and design: it is as if Alice had climbed through the tiny door and into the new exciting world of Wonderland. Using such forms of building and construction materials as glazed roofing materials, laminated plywood structures that hold the property firmly together. Meanwhile, special transparent materials within the property allow plenty of natural light to shower those inside with the beautiful British weather (or lack of) and the property’s “L” shaped structure means that it is not only spacious but also interestingly laid out and aesthetically pleasing. Through this, it is clear that LTS Architects chief Greg Shannon has overseen a very ambitious project that is deceptively small to all who pass it, but luxurious to whoever actually goes inside and crosses the threshold. Glass flooring and other implementations such as the actual uncluttered location of the sitting areas and mezzanine, as much light as possible will be let into this property and it is clear that both manufacturers and owners can consider themselves proud to have delivered on what is a wholly ambitious and innovative project.
