South Ribble Borough Council has given the green light for national partnership housebuilder, Keepmoat Homes, to build 520 homes in Farington Moss, off Croston Road and Moss Lane. The land has been purchased from Homes England and is a strategic housing site under the South Ribble Local Plan.
The scheme, in partnership with Homes England, will deliver much needed housing in the area, comprising of two-, three-, and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes and mews houses. Of the new homes being built, 96 will be affordable, which will be delivered as part of a joint venture with Onward Homes.
Keepmoat Homes has worked alongside planning and development consultancy Turley, who provided planning and strategic communications services for the project.
As part of Keepmoat Homes’ commitment to creating a sustainable community, plans will also include 2.6 hectares of public open space at the heart of the development. This development will support the local area and help generate opportunities in training and employment which will be delivered throughout the lifetime of the project.
Gareth Roberts, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat Homes, said: “We’re delighted to have secured planning consent for this exciting new project. The development represents a £100 million investment into the area and our aim is to create a new and sustainable community, with diverse green spaces at its heart which will benefit both new and existing residents.
“Using modern construction methods, the new homes will be designed to support a range of prospective homeowners, from first-time buyers to those looking to upsize. We’re confident that the first phase will help a lot of people achieve their dream of owning a new home and leave a positive and lasting legacy in the neighbourhood.”
Stephen Heverin, Growth & Regeneration Director at Onward, said: “Thanks to the support of South Ribble Borough Council, we are delighted to reach this significant point in the development.
“We look forward to working alongside Keepmoat Homes to deliver these much-needed affordable homes and helping create a vibrant new community. We hope our contribution will go on to have a long-term positive impact on the lives of people living in Farington Moss.
“This joint venture is yet another significant step forward in delivering our ambitious plans to build quality, affordable new housing across the region.”
Anna Relph, Associate Director at Turley said: “It has been a real pleasure to have been involved in this project and to have worked alongside Keepmoat to secure planning permission. The scheme will provide much-needed family homes on a strategic development site that has been allocated for a number of years, and we’re looking forward to seeing construction begin.”
Work is due to start on site in February 2021 with the first homes going on sale in September 2021. The development is anticipated to take ten years to complete.
