Leisure contractor Medlock FRB has secured construction and fit-out projects worth £1.25m at holiday destinations in northern England as it expands its presence in the sector.
Medlock has begun a contract to extend and refurbish a restaurant and bar at the Langdale Hotel & Spa near Ambleside in the Lake District.
Due to be completed by the end of February, the works include a two-storey extension and a new kitchen, along with the fit-out of a bar, a wine room and a pizza oven servery with furniture built at Medlock’s joinery workshop.
The firm is also carrying out mechanical and electrical improvements, including installing a new lighting system.
Meanwhile, Medlock has also begun a refurbishment of the Mash and Barrel bar and restaurant at Reighton Sands, a holiday park near Filey on the North Yorkshire coast.
External works include creating a new sun terrace, a smoking shelter and a stage area.
Internally, Medlock is upgrading the décor, floor and wall tiling, and its joinery workshop is supplying bespoke fixed seating and feature screens.
The project is due to be completed this month ready for the reopening of the Haven Holidays park in March.
It is Medlock’s second contract with Haven Holidays owner Bourne Leisure, following a previous extension and fit-out of the Mash and Barrel at the Craig Tara holiday park in Ayrshire.
The Langdale Hotel & Spa and Reighton Sands schemes also follow projects at holiday home destinations owned by Park Leisure – Chantry Retreat in the Yorkshire Dales and Plas Coch on Anglesey.
Medlock managing director Andy Dunster said: “We are delighted to be working with Bourne Leisure again and to be appointed by the owners of the Langdale Estate to carry out work at one of the finest hotels in the Lake District.
“These contracts build on our experience in the holiday market, where we have an excellent track record for quality and speed and a clear understanding of our clients’ needs.
“Operators are continuing to invest heavily in their sites as the trend for people to take holidays and short breaks in the UK continues, and these contracts demonstrate our ability to successfully combine new-build and refurbishment works at locations throughout the UK.”
