Online mattress retailer expands physical portfolio with three new stores

Mattressman, represented by international real estate advisor Savills, has acquired three new stores in Coventry, Kent and the Isle of Wight.

The chain, which was originally established as a purely online retailer, has agreed new 10-year leases for a 5,500 sq ft (511 sq m) unit at The Link Retail Park in Thanet, Kent, a 4,976 sq ft (462 sq m) unit at Gallagher Retail Park, Coventry and a 3,280 sq ft (305  sq m) unit at Towngate Retail Park in Newport, Isle of Wight.  The deals take Mattressman’s physical store count to 20.

Matt McCue, out of town retail director at Savills, comments: “Mattressman is a great example of a retailer successfully operating across the online and physical worlds and we are pleased to be supporting its ongoing expansion.  A number of deals have been agreed with major institutional landlords which is testament to the fact that the brand is now an accepted covenant.”

In Coventry, the landlord Savills IM was represented by Harvey Spack Field, while BNP Paribas Real Estate acted for the landlord Standard Life Investments in Thanet.  In the Isle of Wight, the landlord LMB Overseas Investment Limited was represented by CBRE.
