Chelmsford City Council is moving forward with a £25m investment in rebuilding the city’s leisure centre.
Chelmsford City Council is redeveloping the Riverside Ice & Leisure centre, which was built in the 1960s. The ice rink is being retained but the existing leisure centre and swimming baths will be demolished after a new facility has been built.
The council has published a prior information notice to ‘warm up’ the market to the opportunity and to gather base information to assist in the procurement of the contractor for the project.
The council is working towards an autumn 2018 opening date for the new centre. The process for selection of a design team is currently out for tender.
