Construction employers are being urged to support a new campaign promoting the benefits of apprenticeships to young people.
The Get In Go Far campaign features apprentices from up and down the country in a series of adverts showing how on-the-job training can provide the chance to learn vital skills while earning a wage.
Apprentices from all industries, including construction, are being called on to share selfies and video clips of themselves at work on social media using the #GetInGoFar hashtag.
The campaign forms part of the Government’s efforts to create three million more apprenticeships by 2020.
As part of the scheme, those interested in signing up for an apprenticeship can head to getingofar.gov.uk to learn more about the benefits on offer.
They can also visit Go Construct to find out all about the exciting opportunities on offer in the construction industry.
New figures released by the Government show that 90% of employers and apprentices are satisfied with the training schemes, while 75% of employers have seen productivity rise as a result of taking on an apprentice.
Further findings show that long-term career prospects after completing an apprenticeship are also strong, with 92% of trainees employed six months after finishing their scheme.
Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “This campaign will show young people and their parents the incredible things you can achieve if you choose to learn while you earn.
“Our apprentice stars, and the millions more who have already benefitted from an apprenticeship, are examples of how an apprenticeship can take you anywhere and help you rise to the top in any industry, any job and up to any level.”
