Swale Borough Council voted in favour of the plans, which will see an Aldi supermarket and Premier Inn open on the site. Henry Davidson Developments (HDD) is leading the scheme with support from Pegasus Group. Scott Davidson, managing director of HDD, said: “We are delighted that councillors have approved this well-planned scheme that will bring significant economic benefits to the local area. “The proposed 84 bed Premier Inn is set to generate around 29 new jobs, with a target for 50% to be taken by those not in employment, education or training aged between 16 and 24. The new Aldi store will employ 50 full time equivalent employees, as well as supporting the expansion of facilities at the new Sheppey Distribution Centre which ultimately will provide 400 jobs and will broaden the retail offer in Faversham. “Thanks to the support and dedication of the team at Pegasus Group we now look forward to progressing this development at the soonest possible opportunity.” Steve Lewis-Roberts, a Senior Director at Pegasus Group, added: “We are extremely pleased that HDD’s vision for this development, that will bring much needed services to the new community and the existing town, has won the support of Swale Borough Council. “During the consultation process significant design changes were made to ensure a bespoke development that is right for Perry Court, and this was reflected by the fact that were no objections from statutory consultees and that the application had the support of the local Faversham Town Council. “It has been a rewarding project to be part of with all parties working hard to steer it towards today’s positive conclusion.”

Liverpool City Council’s Planning Committee approved plans for the development at a meeting today, 08 October. Construction of the new hotel is expected to commence in early 2020 and will see Wates fulfil a commitment to provide extensive training and employment opportunities for local people as well as boosting the city’s economy through the appointment of local supply chain partners. “Liverpool should be the premier cruise destination on the west coast of the UK and our new terminal will underpin that ambition and make it a reality. This hotel is critical to the plan to create a world-class experience for the cruise companies and their passengers. The city is working with some of the very best in the construction industry to deliver the facilities and I’m delighted they’ve got the green light to start this hugely important scheme,” added Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson. A new retail and leisure complex has been delivered in Northamptonshire as the final phase of the scheme reached completion.

Retail and Leisure Complex Arriving to Northamptonshire

A new retail and leisure complex has been delivered in Northamptonshire as the final phase of the scheme reached completion. Winvic, who served as contractor on each of the three phases, first began work on Rushden Lakes in January 2016 for LXB Retail Properties and fund The Crown Estate.  The final phase, Garden Square, has extended the existing retail space, and united the south side of Rushden Lakes with Phase 2’s western leisure terrace, which was handed over in January 2019. All specialist fit out contractors were able to commence on time, and phased handovers have been successfully completed allowing leisure operators and stores to open to the public as soon as possible. Garden Square comprises ten high quality units – totalling 30,000 sq ft – which will soon be occupied by a range of leading retailers including Skechers, Barbour, Hotter, Beaverbrooks and Three. Final fit out works are currently being undertaken by specialists and it is expected the 14-screen cinema will be open at the end of June, and Garden Square retail units in the coming months. As the name Garden Square suggests, the piazza which the boutique retail units surround also features a unique, enclosed garden space for visitors to enjoy. The concept was to provide a quiet, green space for shoppers that could also be transformed into a location for outdoor events and pop-up shops.  The third phase is in line with the natural and distinctive design ethos of Rushden Lakes, which is surrounded by 200 acres of Nene Wetlands. Rushden Lakes now comprises a total of 450,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants, a Cineworld IMAX cinema, three leisure service providers, pontoons and boathouse and a lakeside visitors centre. “As with the two previous phases of Rushden Lakes, we were able to complete Garden Square quickly, efficiently and cost effectively within a multifaceted programme comprising many end user enhancements within a live environment. The retail and green space is a high quality addition to the existing complex, providing a corner of relaxation for visitors as well as ten boutique shops. We have delivered Phase 3 with our usual attention to detail and commitment to design and environmental standards, and it has been a pleasure to work with LXB, The Crown Estate and a huge number of end users over the past four years and make this scheme a success all round,” commented Robin Orgill, Winvic’s Construction Director.

Ragged Edge Rebrands Qbic Hotel

While most affordable hotels are bland and impersonal, Qbic hotel celebrates individuality. Branding agency Ragged Edge partnered with Qbic to redefine their brand, creating a bold and distinctive platform with the power to bring their unique vision to life, all over Europe. A brand built to deliver an ambitious goal “Qbic was already doing something remarkable. Our London and Amsterdam hotels were the greenest in their respective cities,” says Julie Fawcett, Managing Director, Qbic Hotels. “But to achieve our ambitions, we knew we needed to build a rich, meaningful brand with the power to drive the whole business.” Welcome Character Ragged Edge helped create a strategic platform that could inform every part of the Qbic hotel experience, internally and externally. “We wanted to take Qbic’s desire to do good, and amplify it into something bigger and more emotional” says Max Ottignon, Co-founder, Ragged Edge. “This led us to ‘Welcome Character’, a brand idea that’s as distinct in the category as it is relevant to guests who want to be treated as individuals, not room numbers.” An identity that celebrates individuality The new visual identity is inspired by the hotel’s physical layout, and the coming together of different people and ideas. And the tone of voice celebrates guests’ quirks and eccentricities: weird is welcome. Introducing Motley While Qbic’s rooms are for overnight guests, the shared space is for everyone. So Ragged Edge and Qbic created a sub-brand with its own distinct character: Motley is a place for locals and guests to come together to eat, drink, work or play. Spreading good character The brand gave Qbic the platform to relaunch its London and Amsterdam hotels, followed by imminent new openings in Brussels, Manchester and beyond. “The result is so much more than a visual identity,” Julie explains, “it’s a platform that enables us to bring our unique character to new cities, and new people, all over Europe.”

Wakemans acted as tenant’s agent on the £10million Solihull Travelodge, which has 82 rooms including SuperRooms, an on-site restaurant called the Bar Café and free car parking. Plans Submitted For Liverpool Cruise Hotel

Wates Construction has submitted a planning application for a new Cruise Terminal Hotel in Liverpool, which forms part of Peel Land and Property’s Liverpool Waters, the city’s major waterfront regeneration scheme. Following the consultation held in September 2018, which gave residents and businesses the chance to view plans and provide comment on the proposed new four-star hotel, the submission for planning application was sent. The new development is subject to planning and it will include a 200-bedroom accommodation complex, including a lobby bar, cafe, restaurant, business suite and back of house facilities as well as visitor and coach parking, and a taxi pick-up and drop-off point. The purpose of the new hotel is to support and supplement the city’s new cruise liner terminal at Liverpool Waters’ Princes Dock, which once built will accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships and create new jobs and generate wider economic benefit to the city region. The new cruise liner terminal, equivalent to the size of two football pitches, would be serviced by an off-site multi-storey car park and will enable the world’s largest cruise ships (up to 3,600 passengers) to embark and disembark at Liverpool. As part of the construction of the hotel, Wates has made a commitment to provide extensive training and employment opportunities for local residents as well as boosting the city’s economy through the appointment of local supply chain partners.
