Hiab launches HIAB iQ.1188 HiPro loader crane with new control system

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has launched the 110 tonne metre ™ super heavy loader crane HIAB iQ.1188 HiPro with the company’s new control system to deliver new productivity and safety benefits. The iQ range is HIAB’s new generation of loader cranes based on the new control system SPACEevo combined with the CombiDrive 4 remote control that is used for the first time on the HIAB iQ.1188 HiPro. The HIAB iQ.1188 HiPro is the largest HIAB crane to date with a long reach and great lifting capacity, but still lightweight in a compact package. It delivers the performance of a 110tm loader crane but is similar in size to a 90tm range model. This means it can be installed easily on 4 axle vehicles and still leaves room for payload, as well as reducing costs and fuel consumption. The performance to weight ratio is achieved by the new V12-Power boom profiles. “Our customers want big cranes that are suited for a great variety of tasks in a smaller crane package to increase flexibility, reduce operating costs and improve fuel efficiency. We are proud to have launched our biggest HIAB crane to date with some amazing new technological features to deliver unrivalled performance and safety features,” says Marcel Boxem, Director, Product Management, Loader Cranes Heavy & Super Heavy, Hiab. He continues: “The HIAB iQ.1188 HiPro is the first in the iQ. range that will set a new standard for precise manoeuvres and high speeds, and personalised settings to improve productivity. At the same time, the new features we are introducing are also making crane operation safer than ever for the operator and the surroundings.” The new SPACEevo control system allows the crane to be operated precisely even at high speeds. It is built using an open technological platform that enables continuous updates. The crane is controlled by the new remote control CombiDrive 4 that provides more information, with bigger colour screens, haptic feedback (vibrations) and increased battery life. It is possible for the operator to personalise settings like speed and crane reaction. It features the new Confirm View that increases safety by identifying the position of the operator compared to the stabilisers, so they only open if the operator is positioned to see their movement properly. The crane features the DLC-S stabilisation program. Using the remote control operators can simulate the stabilisation capacity that the crane will have in a certain position and with the stabilisers opened. This is a great feature to plan the scheduled lifts. The HIAB iQ.1188 HiPro has in-built connectivity so that owners can access Hiab’s HiConnect™.

Hiab meets challenges of waste collection customers with new crane for underground containers

Hiab, part of Cargotec, is launching a new crane for the waste collection market. The HIAB S-HiPro 230W will debut at this year’s ReinigingsDemoDagen (RDD) trade show taking place on 5 and 6 June in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Intended for use with underground refuse containers, Hiab has engineered the HIAB S-HiPro 230W to make it easier for operators to efficiently and safely perform their work in increasingly crowded and chaotic urban centres.  “As more cities around the world turn to underground containers as an aesthetically pleasant and convenient solution for managing waste, we at Hiab have been listening to customers about the challenges of handling and emptying these containers. Working in traffic on congested streets, they need equipment that allows them to collect the waste quickly, without damaging the truck or posing a risk to operators and the surrounding area. In an industry with high employee turnover, they also need technology that offers simple and intuitive control for beginning operators,” says Hans Ohlsson, Director, Medium Range, HIAB Loader Cranes. Hiab designed the HIAB S-HiPro 230W with exactly these customer demands in mind, resulting in a waste collection crane that ensures stronger, simpler and safer performance. Compared to earlier generations, the new crane provides up to 30% greater lifting capacity in the positions that are most crucial for this specific application. At the same time, Hiab engineers have managed to reduce the dead weight of the crane by around 150 kg. The HIAB S-HiPro 230W comes equipped with Hiab’s advanced HiPro remote control system, which makes it easy to steer the crane with complete precision for novice operators. It also has Hiab’s unique Semi-Automatic Motion system. It simplifies crane operation which in turn increases the level of safety that the crane can offer. “With a crane that practically controls itself, operators can instead concentrate on making sure that they, the truck and the surrounding areas are safe and protected,” adds Hans Ohlsson. “We know that the main focus of fleets working in urban waste collection is to get each job done quickly and without trouble so they can carry on to the next one. As a stronger, simpler and safer crane, we believe the HIAB S-HiPro 230W will make it easier than ever to do just that. This is why we are launching it with the promise that this is a crane that will keep you moving!” Hans Ohlsson concludes. To get a first glimpse of the possibilities of the new HIAB S-HiPro 230W, attendees at RDD are welcome to visit the Hiab stand.

Hiab renews its light range loader crane portfolio

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has launched its renewed HIAB light range loader cranes with a capacity from 4 to 11 tonne meters. This range of HIAB loader cranes combines strength and reliability with ease of use. Four options for remote and manual control systems ensure that the customer can choose between the systems that meet specifically the level of precision needed when operating a crane. “When we started the development of this HIAB loader crane series, we wanted to ensure that the renewed equipment will make work easier for the operators, keep it safe and increase efficiency, as we have learned that these are our customers’ priorities when choosing a loader crane. The unique X-4 SPACE system on the light range loader cranes enables the operator to handle the crane with the greatest ease and with higher load cycling speeds” says Jan Vink, Director, Light Range Loader Cranes, Hiab. As the HIAB light cranes are made with durable high-tensile steel, they combine low weight with the capacity to deliver heavy loads. Also, an external display gives a better overview of the active crane and service status. Depending on the choice of control system, a range of features are available for improving capacity, durability, flexibility, as well as safety. These features include Semi-Automatic Folding system, Load Stability System and remote control systems. “To avoid unnecessary downtime in our end customers’ operations, HIAB light cranes are designed for easier everyday maintenance. Key parts and components that require regular attention are located where they are easy to access. A good example is the integrated oil tank in the crane base, which can be installed without rearranging truck components and is quicker and simpler to reach. Also, these new models can be configured with various options, to enable easy mounting on the truck chassis. The whole installation is designed for the lowest possible overall weight,” Mr. Vink continues. The light range loader cranes come with the market’s only two-year warranty as well as a five-year warranty for the steel structure, as with other HIAB loader cranes. “The reliable performance and productivity are guaranteed through the offering of our comprehensive service network,” Mr.Vink says. “At Hiab, we set the standards for the loader crane industry. We want to be the number one loader cranes brand and partner to our customers, offering the best solutions on the market. Over the past two years we have renewed successfully both our medium-range cranes and now light range cranes. The positive feedback from our customers ensures that we are on the right path with our development work,” concludes Joakim Andersson, Senior Vice President, Loader Cranes, Hiab.
