Manchester City Council Heat Network Project

Manchester City Council has announced that they have secured a grant for £2.87 million from the Government. The funding has been given to the council as a part of the Government’s national Heat Network Project, for work to be carried out on the Manchester Civic Quarter Heat Network. Manchester is one of only nine local authorities that have managed to secure funding for these projects. The funding success that has recently been announced means that the city council will now be able to progress with the Civic Quarter Heat Project that is working to make changes and see significant carbon reductions over the course of the next three decades. Following the success of the grant application the council is expected to meet the remainder of the cost for the programme of investment. The Manchester Civic Quarter Heat Network project aims to become cost-neutral over the course of the scheme, with the possibility of revenue being created from this project that can be invested into more low-carbon, renewable initiatives. The scheme has been designed in order to offer the potential for expansion. As the network grows and customers involved with this scheme become connected there will be a higher level of capacity installed and the benefits of the programme can increase. Vital Energi is known for being one of the country’s best known providers of sustainable and renewable energy schemes. The company has been appointed as the preferred bidder in order to deliver the scheme, which will include the construction of a low-carbon energy centre and 2km district heating network. This network will include a number of well-known Manchester buildings including Manchester Town Hall and its extension, Manchester Central Convention Centre, the Central Library, Manchester Art Gallery, Bridgewater Hall and Heron House. Manchester City Council has announced that they are fully focused on improving air quality and environmental quality in order to improve the attractiveness of the city.

Vital Energi Appointed to Create Temporary Energy Centre

Vital Energi, provider of sustainable and renewable energy solutions has been appointed to a build contract with Multiplex in order to carry out the first phase of the energy scheme for the new business district which is currently under construction at London Royal Albert Dock. The design and construction contract that Vital Energi has been appointed to has been valued at £7.9 million and is only a part of the enormous construction project underway in London. Earlier this week it was announced that Vital is ABP’s preferred partner to build, operate and maintain the temporary energy centre and district heating and cooling networks that will be constructed in order to serve the first phase of the 4.7 million sq. ft. mixed-use development. This large scale development is expected to be London’s next business district. The £1.7 billion project is being carried out by ABP, a Chinese development company. ABP have appointed Vital as lead designed consultants in London for the past two years. The construction work on this major project has already begun, the first phase of the development is expected to be completed in the early stages of 2019. The temporary energy centre to be constructed by Vital features 5MW gas boilers, 100㎥ insulated thermal store as well as 1.2 MW air cooled chillers and a BMS control system. This temporary system is expected to supply 50,000㎡ of commercial space through a 2.6km district heating and cooling network. The energy centre will serve each of the buildings at the development site that are connected to phase 1 of the project. The Royal Albert Dock development is expected to act as a gateway for business from Asia and other companies who are wanting to establish a headquarters in Europe. This new development will also act as a new financial and business district in London that also offers retail and leisure facilities in order to allow companies to operate in the area across a range of different time zones. https://www.vitalenergi.co.uk

Vital Energi Awarded a Building & Design Contract With Mace

Vital Energi has been awarded a Build & Design contract with Mace worth £6.7 million. This contract will deliver a low-carbon energy solution for a development on 145 City Road. The energy solution is being created for the new Atlas building, which is a 152m high building that has 40 storeys and forms a part of the £1 billion City Road Basin Development. Once completed, the Atlas building is expected to be the tallest residential building found in London’s Tech City. Vital Energi has been contracted to install the main energy centre which is situated in the basement of the building. The energy centre will be comprised of a 158 kWe CHP engine and also a 2.8MW modular gas boilers and 1.W of water cooled chillers. The sustainable and renewable energy company will also deliver the risers and laterals as well as the heating and the cooling Hydraulic Interface Units that will be a part of more than 300 dwellings that make up the residential building.  Because of the height of the Atlas Building, Vital Energi will also have to install a plant room on the 19th floor. It is thought that this plant room will hydraulically separate the heating and chilled water systems which will then make sure that there is enough water pressure delivered to all of the apartments throughout the entire building. As part of their work on the project, Vital Energi have committed to making sure that local communities benefit from the development. The energy solutions company have pledged to create employment and business opportunities in the local area. The team that is working on the Atlas Building have been establishing connections within the Borough of Hackney by offering initiative such as career trade fairs. Vital Energi are using these links that they have created with the borough to see that the development creates the maximum opportunities to benefit the local economy.
