Development Boosts Office Space in London

London’s St James’s district benefits from new office, retail and restaurant space with the completion of a multi-use development. 35,000 sq ft of office space was delivered over the first to sixth floors, with 11,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space at ground and basement levels. The Marq project has been completed by Skanska for its client The Crown Estate. “Handing this project over on time, within budget and to such a high standard is a fantastic achievement. Working together with all of our stakeholders has created a strong working ethic that has delivered our customer’s requirements and it’s a building that they can be proud of,” said Richard Kirkpatrick, Project Director. The development features three pieces of bespoke artwork by Jacqueline Poncelet, with two external elements – splay corner and gates – being complemented by an interior wall-based artwork. Moreover, the building is on target to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating for the office space and a WELL Building Core and Shell Gold certification. On this project Skanska was also supported by Rolfe Judd (architects), Waterman Group (structural engineers) and Watkins Payne Partnership (services engineers). “This has been a complex project at a busy location with several constraints on the site. It has been an exciting project for us, involving creative engineering in close proximity to nearby buildings and busy streets. The structural works have gone very smoothly thanks to close collaboration between all parties. The project is a great credit to all involved,” commented Richard Whitehead, Board Director of Structures at Waterman.

A New Arrival at Waterman Group

Waterman Group are a successful building and construction consultancy firm that helps customers in all kinds of capacities in the planning and development stages of housing projects all across the country. They are particularly proud recently because a new Director has arrived and will be conducting their various initiatives and operations all across the northern regions of the country. Andy King is the new man on the block and with a quarter of a Century’s experience in leading consultancy firms, Waterman Group have very hopes that he will be able to ensure the future of the company’s northern base. Indeed, being a professional Chartered Engineer, it seems that he will bring the right sense of know-how and lucidity that the position requires and will help to secure Waterman Group a number of new and innovative deals with various clients operating in the designated region. Indeed, the fact that he recently worked as a partner at Bradshaw Gass & Hope LLP indicates that he will be more than able to cope and face up to the various challenges that the role of Director would typically encounter, and it is evident from the range of his portfolio and the amount of dealings he has had with other large companies in the UK that Waterman Group will flower under his rule. The CCO of the property enterprise also wanted to say that he was pleased with the developments that Waterman Group has made to get Andy King on board with the company. Craig Beresford wanted to say that he is confident that Andy King’s experience in the business and knowledge of what is going on will be beneficial towards the future of the company in the north of England. Essentially, it is evident that the greater influence that Waterman Group has where it is based, the better. With areas in the North becoming increasingly popular destinations for people to settle into, they will need a Director with the experience of someone like Andy King if they are to capitalize on this.
