Kite Packaging expand their range of polythene bags, shrink tubing and covers

The employee-owned business has recently expanded their range of oversized bags, polythene furniture bags, shrink covers and continuous shrink tubing. The range expansion is supported by the company’s ongoing effort to ensure that a wide range of products can be effectively protected in order to prevent unnecessary waste. Often businesses are not aware of how they can effectively protect larger heavy duty goods and items such as pallets and furniture and extremely large products however, with the new range everything is catered to. Oversized bags Commonly used in a wide range of applications for any large item that will fit into the usable dimensions (over 15 sizes available), Kite’s oversized bags are available in both light and heavy duty to suit different applications, light being ideal to protect items in storage against elements such as dust and moisture and heavy duty offering a more robust protection against extreme weather conditions, scrapes, scratches and dirt. Polythene furniture bags Kite’s range of furniture bags are the ideal solution when storing and transporting furniture. Available in light duty to protect items in storage from dirt and dust and heavy duty to protect furniture against dirt, dust, scrapes and extreme weather conditions. Each option is available as either gusseted, which fits better to items with even sides such as mattresses, or centre folded suitable for items that don’t have even corners such as sofas.  Shrink covers Specifically designed for covering full pallets and for use with Kite’s range of shrink guns, Kite’s range of pallet shrink covers offer heavy duty protection against moisture, dirt and theft. Stronger than standard pallet wrap they are manufactured from shrinkable 100 micron high strength blend polythene and are available perforated on a roll or boxed as singles. Continuous shrink tubing For use with Kite’s range of shrink guns and produced from 100 micron high strength shrink polythene Kite’s shrink tubing fits pallets with a base size of 1200mm x 1000mm and 1200mm x 1200mm but as its continuous, the height is determined by the user by cutting when required, making it perfect for pallets of any height and awkward loads. At the end of May the company announced that they are well on their way to reaching their goal, with the initiative already delivering a 95 tonne plastic reduction. The team at Kite launched their 120 tonne challenge at the start of 2019, setting themselves and their customers the task of reducing plastic usage by a total of 120 tonnes by the end of the year. With a focus on ‘reduce, re-use, recycle and replace’ Kite have utilised a wide range of new eco-friendly products and their state of the art Mobile Test Facility to target opportunities for themselves and their customers. Part of the reduction includes Kite themselves no longer sending out any direct mailing in polythene mailing bags, as well as carrying out an ongoing review of its distribution process to minimise plastic wrapping around products.  To support customers joining the initiative Kite’s new Mobile Test Facility, the first of its kind in the industry, has been despatched to customers premises all around the UK along with a team of packaging technologists and specialist engineers. Kite Packaging introduces new chilled packaging range with 100% recyclable and eco-friendly products

Employee-owned business, Kite Packaging, has introduced a new, innovative chilled packaging range to its product offering. The new temperature controlled range includes five different products that offer high quality, thermal protection for a wide variety of temperature sensitive goods on the market. When it comes to transporting produce from the food and drink industry, pharmaceuticals or other temperature sensitive goods, it can often prove challenging to maintain their desired temperature. These products need to stay at a certain temperature to ensure they remain fit for purpose, therefore they require sufficient packaging which will do exactly that whilst offering secure protection. Kite’s new enviro-friendly insulated boxes are produced from materials with insulating properties that outperform polystyrene. The outer layer is produced from 100% recyclable, environmentally-friendly Kraft paper and the internal layer is made up of 100% biodegradable starch-based loose fill that not only preserves the in-the-box temperature but also provides cushioning protection. The next product Kite has launched is its new insulated box liners. These are comprised of a metallised polyester outer layer to reflect heat away from the product, a bubble wrap middle layer to provide an interval of cushioning insulation and an inner HDPE foam layer offering high resistance against moisture and chemicals as well as further insulation. For businesses who are distributing large pallet size quantities of stock requiring a temperature sensitive environment through transit, the Kite team recommend their new thermal pallet covers. These are equipped with the same properties as the insulated box liners, therefore also providing strong resistance to low temperatures against damage in transit. Due to the foldable, stackable and lightweight structure, these pallet covers provide a reduction in warehouse costs, transportation costs and operational internal carriages. If teamed with the insulating box liners, businesses can help their products get to their destination in the optimum environment. Other essential chilled packaging solutions that can help maintain temperatures on the road are coolants. Ideal for overnight shipments, Kite’s new ice sheets and gel packs will maintain low, internal temperatures to ensure products such as food, fish and pharmaceuticals remain fit for purpose. The gel packs simply require freezing, whereas the ice sheets need to be submerged in water for activation, turning them in to a gel pack which can then be frozen. The real benefit of the ice sheets is their flat pack composition which ensures minimal use of valuable storage space in the warehouse. The final thermal product the Kite team have introduced is their temperature controlled pouches which act as effective insulating protection for smaller items for a shorter length of time. Kite Packaging introduces new hand pallet wrap bundle offer

Pallet wraps are made of a highly elastic plastic film made from linear low-density polyethene (LLDPE). The plastic wrap tension after application protects the contents stored in a pallet during transit. Stored items remain together in the pallet. Pallet wraps are designed to reduce damage and loss of products. Kite’s 5×5 pallet wrap system, one of the UK’s safest ways of reducing health and safety issues associated with hand wrapping pallets, is now available to buy in bundles on the Kite Packaging website. The employee-owned business has introduced new hand stretch bundles which will help save its customer’s time and money thanks to their operational efficiency boosting qualities. When used with industrial tools and supplies such as pallet floor scales and pallet hand wrapping systems, the new product can significantly enhance and streamline warehouse workflow. While industrial pallet scales ensure accurate weighing of pallets, pallet hand wraps ensure pallet content protection during transportation. This hand wrapping system is particularly useful for businesses looking to boost their green credentials and reduce their use of plastic as it reduces the amount of pallet wrap used by up to 60%. The 5×5 pallet wrap dispenser, which was previously only available on a rental basis, can also now be purchased as a permanent addition, meaning businesses no longer have to enter into a contract. Ergonomically designed to improve comfort and efficiency, these hand held pallet wrap systems allow operators to walk forward around pallets in order to dispense the film in a natural position with no bending or stretching required. This combined with its pre-stretch gears that release film at the optimum elastic point, ensures a reduced risk of any health and safety issues that can arise. The bundles are each made up of a 5×5 shrink wrap dispenser and nano technology pallet wrap, with a wide variety of pallet wrap specifications to choose from so businesses can find the right pallet wrap for their business. Product packaging ranges from bubble envelopes and cartons to pallet wrap systems. Whatever your business niche is, it’s crucial to choose a product packaging that is environmentally friendly. When using pallet wraps, it’s crucial to determine the items you’ll be storing. Square boxes and even loads should have an elastic wrap, with static material to cling to flat box edges. For uneven boxes, the loads need an elastic pallet wrap with more thickness and strength, and higher tear resistance. Irregular edges of uneven loads may tear or rip the pallet wrap during transport. For very uneven loads or boxes with different sizes, shapes, and weight, experienced staff should wrap the items to avoid damage using high-quality wraps with superior tear resistance. If you want to find out how else you can improve your environmental operations, please visit www.kitepackaging.co.uk.

Is your business’s waste management giving you optimal economic results?

Employee-owned packaging supplier, Kite Packaging, has taken its environmental waste management a step further thanks to the business’s new waste compacters. Kite’s new additions allow businesses to effectively sort waste at its source, bundling and downsizing waste levels in-house which has a knock on effect for UK waste management as it reduces the environmental impact from businesses through minimising the waste sent to landfill. These innovative systems are the ideal economical solutions to save time, money and space for industries across the board. With four compact balers to choose from, organisations can find the machine that’s most suited to their operational requirements. The versatile range of waste balers offers efficient compaction for different volume day to day operation and thanks to their innovative features such as an integrated kicker, that extracts the bale out once it is formed, companies can reduce costs and increase profits whilst allocating less time for the job. Workforces can eradicate manually flattening and cramming waste into bins, as these balers compact the waste in one swift movement, therefore removing time-consuming inconsistencies that manual, disjointed waste management brings. They can effectively compact cardboard, plastic, paper, textile and even food waste, all into one small, compact bale which can be disposed of efficiently and in the right way, therefore also encouraging recycling in the workplace. These new waste compactors give a substantial return of investment as they can bring significant cash savings on landfill taxes and waste collection as well as reducing the manual labour costs. If you would like any more information about Kite’s new compact balers or its other products and service, visit www.kitepackaging.co.uk.
