Rippon Homes open new show home at Lincolnshire development

Housebuilder Rippon Homes has opened its Windsor show home at its Fox Hollow development just off the Ridings, near Market Rasen. The development comprises a mixture of 98 two, three and four-bedroom homes, including detached and semi-detached houses and bungalows. Every home is designed to a high specification and built by skilled craftspeople using the highest quality materials, with a fantastic range of styles available to suit all kinds of property seekers from first-time buyers to growing families and downsizers. The stunning four-bedroom home was brought to life by Etch Interiors, whose Creative Director, Hannah Stelling, said: “With Fox Hollow being in the beautiful market town of Market Rasen, I wanted the show home to feel quite organic, soft and natural. We wanted to do something with a more earthy tone – so we had browns, terracottas, greens and used lots of natural fabrics like linen.” “In terms of furniture, we bought some nice brass accents in for a warmer feel. We’ve used lots of warmer walnuts too, some nice deep greens but some warm and taupe colours. The whole house, as you go around has this nice, comfortable and relaxed feel.” Market Rasen features a host of amenities for prospective homebuyers including weekly open-air markets, a range of chain and independent restaurants and eateries, and over 50 independent businesses. Also nearby are Willingham Woods and Wild Pines Park, perfect for family walks. Fox Hollow is well located for access to Lincoln and Grimsby, making it ideal for commuters. Residents of the development will also be able to benefit from being less than a mile away from Market Rasen railway station, which has direct links to Nottingham and Leicester. “We are delighted to have launched the Windsor show home at our Fox Hollow development, and are excited to watch a wonderful community grow in this idyllic town,” added Julie Johnson, Director of Sales and Marketing at Rippon Homes. “With a range of homes that will appeal to a variety of property seekers, and an opportunity to settle in a popular town with all the facilities needed for everyday life. We have seen a huge interest in our homes at Fox Hollows, since launching with quite a few homes being sold off plan. We therefore urge potential homebuyers to book an appointment with our sales team.” Fox Hollow is one of three new Lincolnshire developments from Rippon Homes, alongside Eleanor Gardens in Navenby and Rose Gardens in Lea. GREEN LIGHT FOR NEW HOMES IN CROWBOROUGH

Green light for new homes in Crowborough

Final planning permission has been given to Dandara to build 103 new homes at its new Braeburn Fields development located in Crowborough, East Sussex, just seven miles from Royal Tunbridge Wells. The independent housebuilder will start work later this year on the properties in the hamlet of Steel Cross, in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Of the total number of homes being built on the 7.87-hectare site, 36 will be affordable and 67 private.   Located in a secluded countryside setting just over a mile from the centre of Crowborough, the first phase of Braeburn Fields will feature a selection of three, four and five bedroom homes, along with a children’s play park. David Garrett, Managing Director of Dandara South East, commented: “We have a long association with Crowborough and are looking forward to starting construction work on Braeburn Fields, which will be a sister development to Pearmain Place where we are currently building 100 homes.   “This development will provide much needed new homes for local people, from those taking their first step on the property ladder to downsizers looking for low maintenance, energy efficient, easy to heat homes.  “We also expect that they will appeal to buyers from North Kent, Tunbridge Wells, London and the Homes Counties, attracted by the location and high standard of living in this beautiful part of the world. Crowborough also seems to have a strong pull for people who have moved away from the area for work and want to come back when they are retiring or looking for a change of pace.” Dandara will be making a significant contribution to Wealden Council’s Community Infrastructure levy to help deliver improvements to local infrastructure and services including traffic regulation, travel plan auditing and community bus services. Rebecca Taylor, Head of Land at Dandara South East, added: “Braeburn Fields is a very special place surrounded by trees and hedgerows and we have worked closely with Wealden District Council to ensure the unique character of the area is preserved. “We are introducing carefully considered landscaping to the site including woodland and tree planting to provide nesting opportunities for birds and an enhancement to wildlife habitats. We will also be making improvements to the pavement along Green Lane and working hard to ensure this development enhances the natural beauty of the area.” Construction of the new Dandara development will start later this year with a sales launch scheduled for early 2024. Each of the homes will feature energy efficient heating, hot water and lighting designs.  Ideally located for commuters, Braeburn Fields is close to the A26, 7 miles from Royal Tunbridge Wells and 33 miles south of London. It’s just a mile and a half from Crowborough train station with regular services to Uckfield and London Bridge. Crowborough has a wide range of local independent shops, restaurants, supermarkets and schools. Ashdown Forest is close to the development, with more than 6,500 acres of ancient heathland to explore. Home to rare species of wildlife and plants, it inspired A.A. Milne’s classic adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh. Walshes Park is also close-by. Keepmoat launches new show homes in North East

Keepmoat welcomed members of South Tyneside Council to unveil the show homes and sales office at its River’s Edge development in South Shields – it follows news that planning permission for the next stage of this major £65m housing development has been granted.   The celebration, which took place on Wednesday 22nd February, was attended by Leader of South Tyneside Council, Councillor Tracey Dixon, Lead Member for Housing and Community Safety, Councillor Jim Foreman, Head of Economic Growth, John Scott, and Lead Member for Economic Growth, Skills and Climate Change, Councillor Margaret Meling.  For the first time, prospective homebuyers in South Tyneside will now be able to step foot onto the site, take a tour of the newly designed terraced showhomes, as well as visit the sales office and find out more information about the development.   The four-bedroomed ‘Richmond’ and the three-bedroomed ‘Stratton’ house types are modern homes which include features that facilitate family life such as light and airy lounges, spacious bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, and well-equipped kitchen diners, which can also be used as a social area for the family.  When complete, the riverside development will consist of 299 two, three, and four bedroom homes – 48 properties are currently being delivered in phase one of the scheme.   Located close to the Mill Dam area of South Shields, the new homes are within walking distance of the town centre facilities and transport interchange as well as having access to Sandhaven Beach and the panoramic views from Cleadon Hills. The development will be home to over 1,000 residents, providing a significant boost for local businesses in and around the local area.  South Tyneside Council has now approved planning permission for the remaining 251 dwellings in phases two and three, which will be a mixture of houses and apartments. These will include a further six homes available at a discounted market value, and 30 for affordable rent in partnership with Bernicia Housing Group. A new riverside promenade will also be built to open this stretch to the public for the first time in over 100 years.  “We’re thrilled to be able to give home buyers a first glimpse of our exciting and ambitious River’s Edge development. Built on a unique site that surrounds three of the old historic docks, the project offers unrivalled views from many of the new homes,” said Ian Worgan, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat. “Our work in Holborn is a continuation of our long-standing partnership with South Tyneside Council that has already delivered the Trinity South development in South Shields, which not only provided 225 high quality new homes, but has also been designed to encourage community integration. In addition to this, we are also currently working in partnership with the Council to redevelop the former site of Hebburn’s civic centre and swimming baths, which will deliver 91 much needed new homes when complete.” Keepmoat is working in partnership with Northumberland-based developer Cussins, to deliver the residential element of the new riverside community in South Shields. Phase two of the Holborn regeneration project is expected to begin early 2023, with the development due to complete in 2028.  Building, Design & Construction Magazine | The Choice of Industry Professionals

Cruden Homes set to bring 122 new homes to West Edinburgh

Cruden Homes, part of the Cruden Group, has received planning permission to build 122 new homes for sale in the heart of west Edinburgh. The development forms part of the West Craigs Masterplan – a growing new community between Barnton and The Gyle.  Once completed, West Craigs will include at least 1,700 new homes, a new primary school, nursery, health centre, cafe, extensive parkland and woodland and a network of cycle routes that feed into Edinburgh’s Green Corridor. West Craigs is positioned in the suburb of Maybury, on the edge of rolling countryside with excellent transport links to Edinburgh’s city centre, making it a highly sought-after location.  Cruden Homes’ 4.25 acre site is ideally placed within this new community, overlooking the green open space of the newly formed Lennie Park and within walking distance of the popular Cammo Estate.  Designed by ISA Architecture & Design, the range of energy-efficient new homes features one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, many with balconies, along with three- and four-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses and townhouses, all with private gardens.  The development will also provide communal electric vehicle charging points and break out garden spaces with BBQ and seating areas for the apartments. Fraser Lynes, Managing Director of Cruden Homes said,  “The availability of quality new housing remains scarce, so we are delighted to bring these desirable new homes to the market and be part of this fantastic, growing new community, right on the fringes of the Capital. “West Craigs offers home buyers the best of both worlds, with a wealth of amenities on the doorstep surrounded by an abundance of green space and only fifteen minutes from the city centre. Our plans include a variety of homes to meet differing customer needs and we expect this development to be extremely popular amongst home buyers.”  Work is due to start on site this spring and the first phase of homes is anticipated to be completed by early 2024.       Building, Design & Construction Magazine | The Choice of Industry Professionals

Peel submits plans for sustainable community in Wigan

Peel submits plans for sustainable community in Wigan

Peel L&P has submitted plans for a vibrant new healthy living and sustainable community on land north of Mosley Common in Wigan. The applications include outline planning for a wider masterplan for the area and detailed plans for new homes at Twire at Mosley Common, the first phase of development, to bring together a multi-generational community with homes for people at all stages of life. The plans submitted for the land north of Mosley Common will connect the northern and southern sections of the site, creating extensive parkland and pedestrian routes throughout the area. The proposals for 1,050 new homes reflect the masterplan document which was approved by Wigan Council in September 2022, and the submission of these plans is the next step in bringing the vision to life. As well as 25% affordable homes, there are plans for a new transport hub in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester to improve connectivity and active travel with easy access to the Leigh Guided Busway and commuter routes to Manchester and beyond. Plans also include sports and play facilities and a new green corridor to bring ecological improvements to the area connecting people to nature with an extensive new parkland including three new parks. The 202 homes planned for Twire are suitable for first time buyers, families, older people with additional care needs and those looking to downsize. There will also be a specially designed accessible home for families with dependent relatives and around 200 jobs will also be created during the construction of the new homes. “The submission of two planning applications for Twire at Mosley Common and a wider masterplan follows two rounds of consultation held throughout last year and the approval of a masterplan document by Wigan Council. We are extremely thankful for all those who took the time to share their views and we are delighted to share our finalised plans with Wigan Council and the community,” said Annabel Baker, Peel L&P’s Associate Director of Development Planning. “The key focus of the proposals has been to create a connected community, with modern housing, improved transport links and vibrant parklands for everyone to enjoy. The first phase will be developed by Northstone, featuring the highest quality design and meeting the highest standards of environmental sustainability. We look forward to the applications being considered by Wigan Council and continuing to engage with the community.” Peel L&P’s homebuilder Northstone will build the homes at Twire with an emphasis on biodiversity improvements and energy-saving features to help residents with their fuel bills. As a landscaping led-approach, the vision will include links to a green walking network with lots of community space. The site at Mosley Common has been identified for residential development as part of Greater Manchester’s Places for Everyone plan which has been submitted to the Secretary of State for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Successful new development launches for Story Homes

Story Homes has recently launched two brand new developments in the North East, and both have received an overwhelming response from customers hoping to be the first to secure their dream Story home. Robinson Fields, located in the desirable area of North Tyneside, near Whitley Bay and Tynemouth, launched on Saturday 4 February. Demand for the development was so strong that some customers camped outside the marketing suite the night before the launch so they could be the first in line to secure a high specification home. Initially, Story Homes planned to release just five homes for its sales launch. However, due to high demand, additional homes were released to avoid disappointment for its customers. Riverbrook Gardens, which is in a prestigious position within walking distance of both Alnwick town centre and Castle Gardens, launched on 14 January. The development also received a fantastic response from customers wanting to secure a high quality home designed for modern living. Sales Director for Story Homes North East, Kye Bradley, said “We’re delighted that our two new developments have been so well received by our customers, and the success of these recent launches demonstrates a continued high demand for quality new homes in the North East. “We are very much looking forward to opening our new show homes at Riverbrook Gardens, and our ‘show village’ at Robinson Fields, in late summer.” The first phase of Robinson Fields offers 50 new homes ranging from two to five-bedrooms, which are now under construction. Furthermore, Story Homes was recently delighted to successfully secure planning consent for the remaining 250 homes at the development. Story Homes previously worked with Northumberland Estates to deliver the former Chancel Place development in Longhoughton. The success of that collaboration gave Northumberland Estates the confidence in Story Homes to successfully deliver these two new high quality developments, on their land in Alnwick and North Tyneside. When speaking about the recent launches, Colin Barnes at Northumberland Estates, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Story Homes on these developments, which are delivering high-quality new homes with excellent access to open space and local amenities that are so important for wellbeing and creating a lasting community.” Story Homes’ proposals for both developments include a range of two to five-bedroom homes from the Story Collection, designed to suit the flexible living that people are looking for in a new home. Plans approved for the Ev0 Building

Plans approved for the Ev0 Building

Bruntwood has received planning permission for The Ev0 Building, the UK’s lowest carbon new build workspace. Based at Didsbury Technology Park in South Manchester, the £31 million development will meet LETI 2020 design targets for upfront carbon, RIBA 2025 targets for whole life carbon and the UK Green Building Council’s (UKGBC) Paris Proof operational energy use targets, making Ev0 net zero in both construction and ongoing operation. It is also targeting a NABERS 5.5 star rating, the highest level of environmental performance in use. The development’s key innovative feature is its mass timber frame. The design is centred on the use of timber because of the material’s ability to capture and store carbon, ensuring it is not released back into the atmosphere until the end of its lifespan. This process is known as sequestration, with Ev0’s timber frame predicted to store 4,000 tonnes of carbon, the equivalent of 2,500 return flights from Manchester to New York. Ev0 will be a fully electric development, with up to 94% of its energy requirement generated through photovoltaics located on the building’s roof and car park, acting as a series of mini power plants. All energy required by the development will either be generated on site or supplied by Bruntwood’s co-operative wind farm. As part of Ev0’s energy efficiency plans, the building’s ground-breaking design estimates running costs at 58% lower than a traditional new build, supporting future occupiers in mitigating the risks and uncertainty of rising energy costs. Bruntwood will provide sustainability guidance to Ev0 customers to help them meet Paris Proof targets for their own operational energy use, as part of a green leasing strategy. A smart building management system will also help customers manage their daily energy use effectively. The development has employed parametric design principles to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the building, with the facade designed to minimise solar gain and overheating on the south and westerly elevations, and maximise solar gain on the north and east elevations. Ev0 will also feature a gym, cafe, customer lounge, cycle storage and event space, characteristic of Bruntwood’s approach to the provision of excellent onsite customer amenity. Willmott Dixon wins Agora regeneration scheme

Milton Keynes Council has appointed contractor Willmott Dixon as its preferred bidder to deliver the landmark Agora regeneration scheme in Wolverton, which has received £36 million of investment by the City Council. Working alongside developer TOWN, Willmott Dixon will review and finalise the design for the new development on the former site of the disused Agora Centre and adjacent car park. Also known as the Love Wolverton project, it is set to elevate the local environmental and social sustainability of the area through an inclusive mix of housing, nine ground-floor commercial units and a designated community space to inject life into the local economy. Sustainable elements of include energy-efficient buildings and a smart renewable energy microgrid to generate around two-thirds of the annual energy required for the scheme. There will be several car-free streets, as well as a sustainable mobility hub including a car club and bike hire facilities. This is the latest in a series of town centre regeneration for Willmott Dixon. The company is also involved in the Spindles development in Oldham town centre, Upperbanks development in Rochdale and Stockport Interchange. “The Agora regeneration scheme is a pivotal project that will breathe new life into the local area of Wolverton. Hayfield unveils plans for sustainable development

Hayfield unveils plans for sustainable development

Housebuilder Hayfield has submitted a Reserved Matters Application to Tewkesbury Borough Council to create a 50 new homes development in the Village of Gotherington, Gloucestershire. The £35m, 6.27 hectares scheme, just north of Bishops Cleeve, will deliver a range of two, three and five-bedroom EPC A-rated homes and bungalows, which will add aesthetic variety to the neighbourhood, as well as meet continued market demand for single floor properties. Hayfield will take a tenure-blind approach to delivery, with a total of 20 of the plots designated for affordable housing and the rest for open-market sale. The development will be fossil-fuel free and achieve the gold standard for energy efficiency. Each home is to include solar PV panels, an air source heat pump, energy-efficient underfloor heating, increased insulation, water efficiency measures and electric vehicle charging point. These sustainability factors are in line with Hayfield’s A-rated, zero-carbon-ready design principles, which already exceed the government’s Future Homes Standard – a level of specification that will be mandatory for housebuilders to meet from 2025. “Our vision for this scheme has been to demonstrate how impressive a sustainable development can look and the positive impact it can achieve for local communities. That’s why in designing this scheme, not only have we harmonised our signature house designs to be in keeping with the village’s existing architecture, but to also introduce sustainable measures that will enable future residents to significantly lower their carbon footprint and household energy usage,” said Andy Morris, Managing Director of Hayfield. The scheme’s design has been inspired by the character of Gotherington’s existing properties, with care taken to ensure the new homes complement the village in an organic, sustainable way. Materials chosen, including stone, reflect those used throughout the existing village. A new access road and a network of footpaths will be created from Ashmead Drive incorporating the existing Public Rights of Ways. Particular attention has equally been paid to the natural environment. Prioritisation of biodiversity will see new habitats for wildlife incorporated, with native tree planting and an attenuation pond and wetland wildflowers added, while the vast majority of existing trees and hedgerows will also be retained and enhanced. The site will deliver a biodiversity net gain. Building, Design & Construction Magazine | The Choice of Industry Professionals
