Ardmac Delivers ‘Best in Class ‘ Fit Out at 42-44 Fountain Street in Manchester. Situated in Manchester’s historic and prime business locations, Ardmac transformed 42-44 Fountain Street into a fantastic quality workspace for forward thinking businesses.  Wilton Developments acquired the former Spring House, a seven-storey, 26,000 sq ft building on behalf of an in-house client.

Planning permission was secured to redevelop the ground floor for restaurant use, form a new glass fronted two-storey height reception, and refurbish the upper six floors to an exceptional standard. The remit also entailed working collaboratively with Manchester City Council to retain some features of the original building including the columns at the building entrance as well as delivering  a ‘Best In Class’ building.

The interior fit out was beautifully remodelled and refurbished, with the reception area being turned into a striking double height atrium. Bespoke timber wall finishes identify the reception desk and create a structural backdrop that enhances the double height space. Pendant feature lights reinforce the cube element of the scheme and create a landmark feature visible from the street. The green wall and the natural oak timber gives warmth to the space and compliments the harder materials of steel, glass and stone. The light boxes enhance the buildings brand colours and create a feature that draws visitors to the lifts and through the space.

Office air conditioning is served by a VRF system. The interior fit-out specification included: Office area luminaires are LED and are LG7 compliant

  • Club-quality basement shower/ locker room
  • 2 lifts each 10 person

  • The EPC rating high end C

Showers, club class changing facilities and bike storage are some of the added features of the project. The quality space and the flexibility of the floors means the building can accommodate requirements from 1,500 sq ft up to entire building of 22,150 sq ft.
