BBA Expands Senior Leadership Team

BBA Expands Senior Leadership Team

The British Board of Agrément (BBA), the UK’s leading construction products certification body, is pleased to announce the promotion of Tara Deller-Hoy to Chief Operating Officer and Rob McCormack to Performance Director. Since joining the BBA team in March 2021 as Operations Director, Tara Deller-Hoy has led several improvements within the company from which clients and colleagues have benefitted. Tara has played a key role in the digitisation of the BBA, ensuring a compliance-based approach to delivering the Agrément product certification services to market.  In addition to her responsibilities for the Operations and Assurance teams, Tara has also been leading the Client Engagement team, which was developed as part of the BBA’s approach to deliver more effective client engagements and stronger client relationships. As well as being promoted to COO, Tara will also join the BBA board. Rob McCormack joined the BBA in August 2017, leading a dedicated transformation team. Over the past four years he has driven a number of transformation projects across the company as part of the BBA’s journey of continuous improvement. This includes the expansion of BBA’s offices with the opening of its Liverpool branch in 2020 along with the recruitment of 25 colleagues. Following this, Rob led internal project teams aimed to design and roll out BBA’s improved ways of working to deliver first-class client experience. Rob is currently heading up the digitisation of this operation, establishing a compliance-based approach to product certification. Rob has also been promoted to become a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), reporting to the CEO. Ian Romano steps up to Vice President – Head of Land and Development and will widen his current remit to encompass regions outside the Midlands (excluding London) and will lead on land acquisition and development activities. Baxi’s Paul Marsden appointed as new Chair of SoPHE Industry Working Group

Paul Marsden, Technical Specification Manager at Baxi, has been appointed as the new chair of the Society of Public Health Engineers’ Industry Working Group. SoPHE aims to provide a higher profile and focus for public health engineers within the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) as well as within the building services industry. An Affiliate member of CIBSE and SoPHE and a member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), Paul’s whole career has been centred around commercial hot water generation and Public Health Engineering. He uses his wealth of experience and expertise of hot water systems and renewable/LZC technologies to help Public Health and Mechanical Engineers understand the relationship between the product/s, the application/s and the system/s they are designing.   Paul has an ONC in Gas Utilisation and City and Guilds in Gas Services and regularly represents both Baxi and the wider industry delivering a variety of training and CPD presentations and seminars. More recently he has developed training events and courses targeted at young and graduate engineers. As Chair of the Industry Working Group, Paul will work with SoPHE members to offer the support and assistance required to help further the profile of this very important Building Services sector. A new Chair has been appointed for RIBA Gloucestershire: Josh Maddison, Architect at GSSArchitecture, was elected earlier this year and started his term on 1st July. Speaking of his recent appointment, Josh said, “It’s a great privilege to have been voted as Chair of the RIBA Gloucestershire. Having grown up in the county, I hope to use to use the platform to continue the development and engagement of the local RIBA community, to create stronger links with the emerging student body and promote Gloucestershire based architecture.” Based at the GSSArchitecture Gloucester Quays office with over five years’ experience, Josh is in good stead to collaborate with local clients and stakeholders to support the members of RIBA Gloucestershire. His recent projects include the multi-million-pound St Thomas Street student accommodation in Bristol, as well as the refurbishment of the Endoscopy Department at Cheltenham General Hospital. Highbourne Group has appointed Robbie Bell, who spent almost 10 years in a similar role at Screwfix earlier in his career, as its new CFO. Robbie replaces Interim CFO Harvey Ainley and begins work immediately for the UK leader in the plumbing, heating and renewable energy market. Orbit Head of Property Safety and Technology announced as new Chair of national building safety group

Neil Yeomans, Head of Property Safety and Technology for Orbit has been appointed as the new chair of the National Housing Federation (NHF) building safety group. The NHF set up the group to help shape the sector’s response to the new system of building regulations proposed by the government, and to support housing associations towards a smooth transition into a new regulatory environment. Key focusses for the group now include sharing experiences and lessons throughout the sector on implementing new safety regulations and providing housing associations with opportunities to hear from the new Building Safety Regulator. Neil has been a member of the group since 2022 and has worked for Orbit for 8 years, heading up an award-winning property safety team who have received national recognition for their work piloting the use of a digital Building Information Modelling (BIM) to create a golden thread of building information for high-rise residential blocks. This year, Orbit has also been awarded a Merit for the second consecutive year for its commitment to customer and property safety by the British Safety Council in its globally recognised International Safety Awards and has received a gold health and safety award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the fifth consecutive year. Neil takes over the role of Chair following the sad passing of previous Chair, Paul Dockerill, who was Director of Energy and Programme Management at whg housing association. Neil commented: “This group has a really important part to play in shaping the change that will be required across our sector to respond to a new regulatory regime.
